I'll try to set this up. If anyone wants to make any suggestions, feel free. The purpose of this thread is to prevent CA members from becoming engaged in bidding wars with other members. Hopefully, this thread will help everyone get some good deals.
Here is what you need to list:
1.) The starting and ending time of the auction.
2.) The exact name of the auction you are bidding on.
3.) The category the auction is under(5-packs,Boxes,Quick-ies etc).
4.) The Lot# that is located right above the "auction status" box.
5.) When you place a bid there is an option to put a comment. Type "CA" in the comment box.
6.) No "low balling". If you bid $1 on a box of RP Vintage 1990's, don't expect a CA member to respect your bid. List the maximum you're willing to pay. If it's a respectable price, no CA member should outbid you. If another member wants the item, wait until the next auction, there is always a next time.
7.) If you get outbid by a non-CA member and a CA member outbids you before you can get to a computer, better luck next time. Always put in your maximum bid in the very beginning. If you use the auto-bid feature, a CA member cannot outbid you until you are not involved in the bidding (i.e. a non-CA member outbids you or you update your post on this thread to inform the board you are no longer interested in the item).
I think we should keep all other discussion to a minimum, that way things will be less confusing. I think if we have people discussing other topics, posts may be missed.
Also, I don't think the "what is a respectable price" question should come up. Let's be intelligent and respectful. All the products on Cigarbid show up often, if you see a CA member with a bid that is 50%, 60%, or 70% of the list price, just leave it alone.
Also, might want to make it that your maximum bid MUST be an auto-bid so we can assure that each person is committed to that particular item or it's okay for someone else to try and grab it.
Sounds like a very good idea. I'm curious how it's gonna work. We could set a Fair market value for maximum bids - such as a percentage of CI retail price

Wait, I think that's what M meant. How about if we see the auto-bid feature, don't bid. If the price is too low, some other person will most likely bid. A person should wait until the CA member is no longer involved and then bid. If a CA member is no longer interested in a particular lot, they must edit their post to inform the board that they are no longer interested.
Any good?
Ah, I just edited it, I hope it's good.
Nice, that's kind of what I had in mind.
Also, wow, did I just get lucky. Won Macanudo Robust Series (Original Blend) Hampton Court (5-Pack) for $7

This is true. But I still like this system.

We can start a support group with an 1-800 help line for all the addictions. Just make sure when I call to confess that my wife doesn't get to hear the message!!

Interesting idea, but I think that CI would start to notice pretty quickly if it proved to be at all successful. All the "CA" notations in the bid comments would be pretty noticeable. Also, a lot of CBid regulars read and post on this site and I'm sure that someone would alert Steve to the plot. Also, CBid can cancel your bid and suspend your account for "auction tampering."
From CBid:
"Users attempting to "cheat" the bidding system by altering or tampering with the course of normal bidding, or by editing bids for the purpose of altering bids or prices in a manner in which it was not intended, may have their bids canceled and their account immediately suspended at the sole discretion of CigarBid."
Now that sure would bring an out-of-control CBid habit to a screeching halt!

I don't really think we're "cheating", I think we're just helping out our friends. Although, cbid might look at it like casinos look at card counting. It's not really "cheating", but they look at it like that.

I have to agree with Kingfisher....something tells me that it won't work and those involved would get caught and have their accounts with CBID suspended or revoked.
I'm not going to take that chance. If someone outbids me and gives a fair bid then I have the right to make a counter bid. Collusion would not be look at kindly by the folks at CBID.
In light of recent questions about legitimacy, is anyone going to attempt to put his system into effect? I'm for it but i wont be bidding real soon bc my first venture on cbid resulted in $80 order. one solution might be to write your CA forum username in the comment box instead of just CA that way its not uniform enough for anyone to notice and also that will prevent people who just look at the CAboards but arent registered on them or post anything from trolling this system. A simple "hey I'm participating in this" post in this thread will keep people up to date. jms this is your baby so what do ya think?

Sounds good, I don't even now if this is going to get going. At least one of my ideas is going to work (wish lists) lol.
