I figured I'd shoot out a note about my weekend..since the board has been so quiet. This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending the 2006 Smoke Fest sponsored but Cigar International (CI) here in PA. The event was great. It was similar to the Big Smoke but some of the bigger names like Padron, Ashton and Fuente were not there. I believe it was primarily the manufacturers that CI has relationships with. So there were still some big names such as Perdermo, Graycliff, CAO and others.

So we paid $75. We walk in they hand you a gym bag. Then they hand you a special edition humidor to commemorate the event. The humidor is stuffed with about 25 cigars. Then they hand you a coupon book which you use to collect another 20 cigars from the vendors present. This is not including all of the raffle giveaways, beer and liquor samples, and models walking around. They gave away a cigar cabinet, a Harley and a ton of other stuff. They actually sold less tickets this year because apparently last year the lines were really long.

There were about 1500 tickets sold to the main event and another 150 sold for the cigar brunch before the event that I also attended. I also attend the brunch. It a much more intimate group. We actually got to eat with some of the cigar "stars" and many were handing out smokes over brunch. This event was an additional $30. All in all I really had the time of my life.

Dang. I would have liked to go to something like that. Nowhere in Alabama do I know of anything like that though.
