Here's a cut / paste from a little contest I posted last year. Be the first to identify the error (of fact, not grammar) in the exchange below for a little Christmas cheer...or a "major award" which ever way to prefer to look at it.....

In the spirit of Christmas giving that is almost upon us, I would like to forward a little Christmas cheer in the form of a package of smokes.
Here's the hook. Be the first to answer the following questions about A Christmas Story correctly:

1. What TV network first aired the show with a 24 hour marathon?
2. Jean Shepherd's book In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash was the basis for the story. For what other publication was Shepherd a contributor?
3. The movie was filmed mostly in Cleveland, OH. The school yard scenes were filmed in what city?
4. Ralphie's dad was almost played by?
5. What model year was Ralphie's Orphan Annie decoder?
6. Ralphie's house was eventually sold on E-Bay - True or False

Bonus: How did the directors get Schwartz's tounge to stick to the flagpole. Good old fashioned frozen pole? or something else?

Answers
1. TNT
2. Playboy
3. St. Catharines Ontario, Canada
4. Jack nicholson
5. 1940 speed-o-matic
6. True, The house sold for $150,000
bonus. A hidden suction tube.

Just in case there becomes a debate over the error I am looking for, I will e-mail the response I am looking for to frankluke (he doesn't need any of my cigars).

It was Robert Deniro who turned the role down as the father , not nicholson.

The movie is set and mostly filmed in Hammond, Indiana

No, and no. I am now thinking the error is a little too obscure or only a half error.
So, I'll give you a hint - Peter Billingsley played Ralphie.

In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash was not a book originally but short stories originally published in playboy then in book form.

Ot that he also wrote colums nd articles for MAD Magazine, Village Voice and Car and Driver?

I don't think the house was SOLD on eBay. It was offered on eBay, but I think it was purchased directly from the seller by a fan of the movie.

They actually restored the house and you can tour it in Cleveland. It was kind of lame, but movie history nonetheless.

Technically is was Scwartz who got his tounge stuck.

Actor is named Scott Schwartz who plays flick.

If the director gets the actor to do something they usually refer to them by their real name.

And R.D. Robb as Schwartz.

That is accurate Gespinoza, and probably why TSF gave the clue that he gave

This was fun- I am going to have to think of some kind of a trivia give away or something like this to do-

I'll let frankluke tell you guys who the winner is...if he does not log on in a day, I'll let you know.

Wow, I am impressed with how many discrepancies arose. But hey, its only a game. I double dog dare anyone to complain should they get left out of this year's major award.

Captain Cigar nailed it. Schwartz dared FLICK to stick his tongue to the pole. Oddly, the character FLICK was played by Scott Schwartz which made my original question only half an error depending upon perspective...But I intended on the original 2006 phrase to refer to the movie's character names not the actor's names.
