I have noticed the same thing.

Yes, indeed. I have mooched off of many newbies. some have suprised me and have become big givers in the community. On the other hand I have received some cigars, where people spent more on shipping then they did on the cigars. But that is all in the name of the game. The new people can not make a name for them self, until they can jump in and prove themselves. When Sheri was up, we had people responding with in seconds. Lets all help the new comers get a chance to join in our cigar family. Thank you Bigdillie, I knew it would be one of the veterans that would take the offer.

he crushed it.
i just received from bigdille so i cant even mooch him when he asks. but im on the hunt. watch your backs.

Thanks jinx. In order to get started and acclimated to this group of B/SOTL, I gotta get started somewhere. And I plan on sticking around this place for a while. Noobs could in fact surprise you.

A few noobs have really surprised me in the past. Just because someone is new to these boards, doesn't mean they haven't been smoking cigars for years.

After reading some of the posts regarding whether or not to mooch off of newbies, instead of worrying about mooching off of them, I think everyone needs to take a step back and check OURSELVES. In order for the game to work and have everyone happy playing the game and being satisfied with the PIFs we receive we all need to ask ourselves one simple question. That question is "in sending out this PIF to my mooch, would I be happy and satisfied with the cigars I'm sending"? If we can HONESTLY say yes to that question, we all would be happier and satisfied, as well as have more fun playing the game and with each other. If we all do that then there would be no need to worry about the PIFs received from newbies as well as veterans. Someone alluded to this in his post, there are some veterans here as well who need to look in the mirror and ask that question.

i have dealt with jinx and tonito as well as a few others. and let me say that they , while still being somewhat new to the forums, made an impact as soon as they got here. they send solid pifs, they participate in other trades and passes, hell... jinx even started the birthday bombs that are going around.
they, as well as idahoser and many others, send pifs that id love to get. and in jinx's case, i did get an awesome pif. so taking a chance is still a chance, but the guys in here make it low risk. everyone tries to step up when needed. you shouldnt be afraid to mooch a new guy.

I agree with what Tonito says but you also have to think about what you smoke, and what others smoke. If I sent you something that I think is great, that doesn't mean that you will like it. I am a big fan of sending a few no name cigars that I enjoy so someone else can try what they would never think of buying, along with a few premiums/CC's. It is also a plus to look at their wishlist so you can get a good idea of what they are looking for. The name of the game is PIF NOOB edition, not pay it forward break your wallet edition. Send what you can, there will always be something that someone will like.
The reason I like to participate in this thread is twofold:
1. to expand my knowledge/tasting of cigars 2. to be generous in the gift of giving
In another pass altogether, I got an Indian Tabac Super Fuerte from Thaterp. I probably never would have smoked that cigar if he didn't send me it simply because it is not in my B&M's inventory and I have not heard much about it. Fact is, it was enjoyable! I then researched it and found it could be had for a reasonable price! Way to go Thaterp!
I think most people who send an outrageous stash are happy to do so. They have the means and would just like to share. I don't think that they would expect much in return. If anyone did, the thread would be "Trade it forward Noob"
So back to the topic. Who is the biggest...wait, I am not eligible yet!
