I have a couple of sticks to send out to some of the guys here and I have not mailed cigars before. Do you guys buy special boxes for these bombing runs. I want to buy several and keep them on hand in case I need to help a brother out.
Guys call them "video boxes". I think this is what DHP is talking about. It helps to put some newspaper or styrofoam peanuts in there to keep the sticks from moving around. The cost like 2 bucks at the PO. Nice to see another good BOTL is jumping in to the bombing arena! Good one ya Sarge!

The post office will give you priority boxes for free if you ask. Then put your gars in a ziplock and put some padding around them, peanuts, bubble wrap, crumpled up paper, etc and ship 'em off.
I get so much stuff by mail that I always have an extra box or two laying around. My GF is a shopaholic online so we always have boxes, peanuts, etc. Once you start trading cigars a little you can always reuse the boxes. My last RATS package went out in a box that came from TPSO, that came from Cigars International!
I don't like the priority boxes because they can only be used once due to the adhesive and zip tab sealing system.

Save the forests, recycle boxes!
I don't open the priority boxes with the zip tab, i just open one end of the box, you have to wrestle with a little bit, then when i resend i tape the end just because it gets a little loose...

Where?
I was thinking that if I ever did a box pass I would build a "shippable humidor." I'd make it out of pine framing and lightweight 1/4" lauann ply. I'd make compartments with foam inserts and a central humdiification system, so everyone wouldn't have to worry about tupperware, cigars getting crushed, etc. If I ever make this dedicated trade box, I'll shoot some pics. I'd name it somethink cool like "The Ark Pass."
If you choose to use new boxes, at the USPS.com website, you can have Priority boxes shipped to your door for FREE. I know because I just received mine today. Here's a link if you're interested...
