I notice that Bullriverfisherman hasn't posted at all(on the forums) since July 15th(in this thread). I'm seriously starting to think that I've been had. First time on this forum too. Guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. Maybe we should just start the next round. If we're still on...

You're still the man Mr. G! It's too bad we have some people out there looking to score some free smokes when we are just wanting to have a little fun with a few BOTL.

Agreed. I am wondering about a few things. Beyond the fact that I did not get a review from Bullriver and Appa did not get his smokes. There are a few other people that are famous on the forum that never put in a review. I was suprised by that as well.

SG-
So when is the next session gonna start? You should get another list started so as soon as appa gets his sticks and his review in, we can start sending sticks out. I hate seeing people get screwed so whats a couple sticks here and there. It is just too bad that someone would do this just to get a couple cigars.

Ummm... one of those would be me - I realized today that I hadn't done my review. Red Face

I'll correct that oversight this week.

I'll need to bow out of the next run, though - my schedule has become utterly insane, and it's getting difficult to keep up with everything.

CP,

I never wanted to say it, but I just kept dangling it out there for you. I even recall you had some mouth surgery and would review later. No worries.

I am going to email BULL and see what comes of it. I know all of our lives can get crazy at times. I will post if I get any replies.

Matt

I haven't checked this thread in a couple days, and I see I have missed a few new developments.

I'm sure now that we've weeded out the problem the next pass will go smoother. Let me know when we're starting again as I thoroughly enjoyed this pass.

Mr G. and everyone,

We can plan on getting the next round going sometime next week. I'll start a thread later this week listing all those who wish to participate in round two. Hopefully we get a couple more reviews in before then.

Working under the assumption that it's better late than never, here is my long-overdue review of the Centenario Classic B that I received from PerfectForm.

Big Grin

This is a large smoke - 6 x 55 - a good bit larger than what I normally smoke. I've been looking forward to this, and tonight I finally had time to sit back and enjoy it without any distractions.

The construction of the smoke is good, no soft spots. The toothy wrapper is a bit rough, but with good oils and no flaws.

Clean cut with the palio, and the pre-light draw hints at the earthiness that is a defining characteristic of this smoke.

It lights easily, and opens with strong notes of good, rich earth and coffee. It's a full-flavored, medium-bodied smoke with a finish that is almost sweet.

The ash is medium gray and flakey, holding for about an inch. It took several touch-ups to keep the burn even, and it tunneled badly at about the one-third mark. After working through this, the burn improved markedly for the remainder of the smoke.

The flavor stayed consistent through the first two-thirds, picking up a touch of ligero spiciness in the last third.

I paired this with plain spring water, although I think in hindsight it would have gone much better with coffee or a good dark beer. Water diluted the finish, rather than enhancing it.

My overall rating for this would be a non-blind 88. I think this same blend in a corona would be better balanced. Likewise, I think that a better drink pairing - coffee or cocoa or a good dark beer - would have made it a better overall experience, and would have pushed my rating up into the 90s.

I'm glad you liked it ok CP. What got me about it is the finish as you mentioned. When I first tryed it I thought it was a flavored cigar. That sweetness really was something I thought unique. Cheers!

Smoke em if you got em

Thanks for sending it (and that interesting unbanded barber-pole smoke you sent with it, which I'm also looking forward to sampling). I enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to another (but with an appropriate accompaniment next time!)

Not at all!

You classified this as a 90+ smoke for you, and that's what matters. Part of the fun of these reviews is finding out how our personal favorites are rated by others.

It'd be no fun at all if we all agreed! Wink

Great point CP, that was the intention of the pass! Also, great review, I might have to pick myself up one of those smokes.
