Crap! I wrote up a whole review yesterday and I must have jumped out of the site on accident. I thought my post went through on the review of the Illusione EccJ.

I will try to post it again. I have class tonight till late. Maybe tomorrow if not later tonight.

Either way it was another Illusione that did not disappoint. I love this line of cigars.

Matt

Ashton VSG Robusto

Very nice looking. Great construction, perfect draw. Burn had to be touched up a couple of times, but I didn't mind. The cigar semed to burn very hot right after lighting, producing strong spice and pepper notes, but very quickly settled down into a nice smooth smoke which seemed to have a predominant charcoal character with hints of cedar and some liquorice in the finish, this was the profile I got for most of the smoke, with it building in strength, but without becoming harsh, as it went. The last third seemed to pick up a little pepper, but didn't become hot on the tongue, which was nice. Overall a great smoke. I give it a 88/100, because it packed a little more punch than I look for, but I can definately see why so many people enjoy these so much. Thanks again Mr.G!

Nice review Appa. The Charcoal flavor was an interesting description, but I can relate!

I will get the review up either later today or this weekend. Sorry guys. I just got to move back into my house last night. I was at the parents from 8/26 - 9/11.

Review of Illusione Eccj:

I have to admit that every Illusione cigar I have had I enjoyed a lot. This would be a go to brand for me if I was looking for one at this time. I guess I don’t have one as my humidors are full and I have plenty of variety right now. If I was out and about looking for a smoke, you would never be dissatisfied from this line in my opinion.

This one did not let me down either. I smoked it till it started to burn my fingers and mouth. I always do that with great smokes. I am not a person that would be able to tell you there was a lot of differences between this cigar and the other Illusione’s I have had.

I enjoyed this cigar on the golf course with an Anchor Steam beer. I probably lit it up around 11:45 am and I smoked it till about 12:30 pm or so. It was a beautiful day on the golf course where it wasn’t too breezy and the sun was a shining.

The overall look of all Illusione cigars is awesome. The wrapper and the way its rolled is nothing but simplistic elegance. I am the kind of person that gets pissed when a company wastes all the money on the packaging of a piece of crap product. As well all know its the way the cigar smokes that matters.

I would say from beginning to end this cigar smoked pleasantly. It had some strong leather and pepper notes. It mellowed out to be a medium bodied smoke and was allowing a perfect draw throughout. There were no noticeable burn issues that I needed to deal with. It allowed me to fill the air with the beautiful pungent smoke that always puts a smile on my face. I used to caddy and get such an itch for a good smoke when people were smoking around me. The best rounds were the ones where the person hooked me up with a stoagie or two for the round.

I would definitely pick these cigars up. I will tell you they definitely qualify as an above 90 scored cigar. I would say at least a 93.

SmokingGun = I actually wanted you to review the Rocky Patel Decade, not the Sungrown. Either way is no worries.

Everyone have a great weekend! Go Cubbies and Bears!

Matt

Nice Review Matt!

I have a hunch that if you put a few years on the ECCJ, you will see a 94 or 95...

ldfkr14,

I have only had one Illusione and I enjoyed it as well, I believe it was the 888. My local B&M always seems to be out of stock. Great review! Sorry about reviewing the wrong cigar you sent me. I guess that gives me a reason to fire another one up. Wink First I'd like to get over this cold though.

October is here and it's time to get this pass fired up for another round!!!

This time around I think we'll still stick with the original rules of the 90+ pass but would like everyone to send an UNBANDED STICK for the recipient to review. This could make it a little more interesting, especially to have someone give an overall score to a stick they don't know.

Once again I'll try to arrange the order so that no one passes to someone they already have passed to. We'll keep this pass open only to those who participated previously with the exception of Fredriko, if he still wants to join. We will also except entries from established members of the forum.

Looking forward to another round with you fine BOTL!!! Please reply if you would like to be included in this round. Right now we'll have an expected date of send off for 10/13/08 but that could get moved back if we have to wait for people to sign-up.
