We are interested in finding someone that can assit us with a source that can appraise cigars that we have. We have one box of hand rolled cuban/habana cigars that were found in a wall of an old house. The name of the cigar maker is on the box and we were able to verify that he had a cigar shop in 1893 which is the oldest record that we can find in our city records. The box actually says 1883. Cigars are still intact an in good shape. We own a small cigar business so we are experienced in what good shape means. Any leads to someone that can help us appraise them would be helpfull.
They might be able to help you. Although, if the cigars are dried out.....You might be selling them more for a display case rather than consumption of course.
You might even try auctioning them at christies auction house in london.

They’re most likely not smokable, but are collectables though.. there's no doubt about that.
I agree - these belong in a museum or private collection to be looked at, but never smoked...
Although curiosity might just have to be indulged at least once...

These cigars were probably rolled in the U.S possibly using Cuban tobacco. Any claim of being Cuban / Havana could be made during this time period. The 1883 most likely refers to the tax stamp used in this period and is not necessarily the production date as this stamp was used for many years after 1883. The most sought after boxes are those before 1875. If anyone can appraise this box, it should be Tony.
Look for the link that helps you date the box.
