Leave it on. It really enhances the flavor while smoking.

Are you refering to the cigar or something you wear while smoking?

Any website can throw a forum up, it's the people that participate that make the forum worthwhile. I like to think that this place is part mine and I'm going to shape it, for better or worse, in my image.

That means I'm going to tell it like it is. I find the people who get the most ruffled about my posts are new members and sort of "fringe" members who hardly participate here and only post to bitch or tell us how smug and self-righteous we are. So no loss there...

This is one fantastic place with people who genuinely care about cigars and heck, even each other sometimes. I'd like to think that we all have a little hand in that. But especially me... Wink

I think it is odd for a BB that is so opposed to CA mods would embrace the concept of self appointed mods and rules of conduct. But it is what it is- usually just a bump in the road before the exchange of ideas begins. I do think that the reason it seems that some post counts are lower than others is the fact some people react to everything, and others in what they are interested in. I am interested in people enjoying a good cigar.

I think the people with the most counts are the people that treat this forum as a cigar lounge. If you were sitting around smoking cigars with your friends you wouldn't just talk about cigar would you. I know from my limited experience when I smoke cigars with friends it usually starts with what each person is smoking and how that smoke is, but it usually turns into topics that I've seen discussed on this forum (Family, Pets, work, SHEEP, and who is wearing underwear and who is not.) This is why new people with rediculous posts get flamed. If you were sitting around discussing different topics with friends and someone walked in and asked to trade cigars or how do to something illegal they would more than likely be thrown out. This forum is group of guys who have a common bond and we don't want people coming in and screwing it up for us. This does not mean we don't want new people we just want them to come in with the right attitude like some of the recent people have done. I am definately one of those new people and I think I was welcomed from the beginning since I came in with the right attitude. Well I'll step down from my soap box so some else can have a turn.

i definately agree with the cigar lounge comparision. I dont have alot of friends that i hang out with at cigar shops, so i come here. The few times i do sit with friends at a shop, it really reminds me of the conversations i have here.

Jad and SRage have it right. This place is like a neighborhood bar where you go all the time with your friends. Any guy that came barging in and started acting like an ass would be frowned upon. The same goes here, with trading being an especially touchy subject.

True, true, my man. I feel the same way. While new, I have only been treated very nicely here, and had all my questions answered very politely. After the first "hey lok, I seem to remember a thread about this why don't ya look it up bud". I kinda caught on...The only time someone gets nailed to the wall, is as Binder said, is when they come on all rightoues, and expect everyone to listen to their ramblings.

Thanks, S-rage, I agree completely. And like I read on another thread earlier today, people (and especially myself) are likely to talk about all sorts of things that we wouldn't talk about if we met in person. Wink This is my cigar lounge, even though my wife finds it incredibly weird. Confused

There is nothing exclusive about it. What the established members of the board preach is just plain common sense. If you are going to participate in anything, it makes sense that you first learn how things work. The fact that you say you see it on other boards as well should give you an idea of how wide spread the problem is. I'm still fairly new to this forum but have participated in other forums on other subjects in the past. It is just down right annoying to the established members who make good use of the discussion board to needlessly see that same crap posted over and over again.

There is nothing exclusive about this board. Just take the time to learn how to use it before you start posting and you'll find they are all really nice guys with lots of knowledge that they are eager to share. Some of the guys make good and regular use of sarcasm and such when a newbie does misstep, but if you can't take a little ribbing you just need to get a thicker skin.

Yep. on the nose.

If this place was that exclusive I would've been evicted after the first of my many off-the-wall discussions. But I'm still here! Cool Thanks, guys.
