Okay, because this is a wonderful addiction. I am in need of ANOTHER humidor. This makes 2 I have bought in the last 4 months! I was going to make a coolerdor like BO and I may still, but after looking around the regular ones(tampahumi, cheaphumi, etc) I looked at Ebay. I know you never know what you will get but does anyone have any positive feedback for buying a humidor on Ebay?

Yeah, I know it is pretty much "buyer beware" or "you get what you pay for" but hey there are 300-400 count humidors for 40 bucks so it may be worth a shot. Thanks for the help.

Personally I stay away from auction sites for big ticket items. If I find something online or at an auction site I've always called the vendor and ordered direct. For small $$ items I'd say go for it, just make sure to deal with people that have a long history of positive feedback.

I must 2nd Ozz's comment. Be sure that you are definitely getting Spanish Cedar. This is quite important in the humidor's ability to maintain constant and proper humidity. Not using spanish cedar is how many save money and try to give "more for your dollar." Well, if every cigar you smoke turns out to be improperly stored, I'd say you still lost money on your investment.

As you can imagine Ebay can be hit or miss, fortunately for me I bought a 200 count humidor and it has been working great since the day and hour I got it. I have also bought other items, not necessarily cigar related which have been, shall we say not exactly as decribed in the auction.
There are several things you can do to try to minimise the chances of being sold a piece of rubbish, always check the sellers feedback rating to see that it's as close to 100% as possible, and check what other people who have bought things from them have said about the transaction and about the item they have received.
Also ask as many questions as you like about the item your thinking of buying, it's your right before you part with any of your hard earned cash, hopefully the seller will be able to give helpful detailed answers, if not you may want to be a bit wary.
jlaker, I've also seen those $40 foot lockers that hold 400 cigars and have been tempted by them, but in the end, I think you get what you paid. I don't know anyone who has one of those, but I'm skeptical.
If you go cheap, especially on ebay, don't count on getting a 100% spanish cedar humidor.
I bought a 200 count humi, but it only had spanish cedar inserts/dividers. It works great, but you don't get that great spanish cedar and tobacco smell.

I got my latest humi on e-bay and was very happy with it, Here is a pic RyJ HumiI paid $275 plus shipping. My local B&M was selling it for $700. I have also seen the Montecristo 300 count humis for less than $400...these are not under a hundred bucks, but a good value for a quality product.

How long ago did you pick that up? I just seen that at a B&M I was in in Coral Springs and thought it was pretty sharp. I think they were selling it for around $350. How many sticks does it hold?
Thanks,

I would recommend finding out what humidor you actually want and then finding the lowest price you can. I would highly recommend a Savoy. They sell for a small amount more than the "every day" ones you see most places and I've found they work much better.
I found the one I wanted (Large Tiger Maple) and then found it on ebay for $25 less than anywhere else. The only reason my next one won't be a Savoy is that next time I'm going big and getting an Aristocrat.
Warm Texas evening, comfy chair on the deck, 3 fingers of bourbon, dog at my feet, and a good cigar. It doesn't get any better!

Thanks,
Last month. I think it say it holds 300. I have about 150 (mostly Churchills) in there now and there is lots of room. I also use a Cigar Oasis XL and digital hygrometer, as the humi didn't include any humidification device. My local B&M has them on clearance for $350.00 today. The one disappointment, was that the wine rack only accommodates smaller (shorter) bottles and they must stand. I am thinking of getting a second Oasis XL and using the bottom for box storage.
