Would smoking a CC on the 4th of July be a conflict with my American patriotism?

No if you are smoking it while drinking a British Lager then you have an issue.

I am suprised by the way you guys identify your self with your country's policies. I'm not saying it's wrong or right, just that it is far from what I am used to here in Norway. That difference appears non-logical to me, as we are such a small nation compared to yours. It seems to me that the majority of the US forum members are true patriots. Then again, there are a lot of things that supprises with me the US, for example how the Supreme Court came to interpret the Constitution as to give every American the right to bear arms.

I think it's because our nation's founders wrote it in there, somewhere. Otherwise I agree. Just because a failed, half-century-old policy is still in effect doesn't mean you can't enjoy another country's fruits. Part of what America is is being able to do what you want, when you want to. You're celebrating freedom. If it bothers you, though, you can always scoop up a couple Kinky Freidman cigars.

Hey, c'mon Hydra ... Javel said it "surprises me", not bothers me. The experience and mindset of people that live in other democracies is often very different from ours. In my opinion, it's not unnatural for them, when they have the ability to ask questions of us directly, as on this board, to ask those questions about the American experience in the context of their experience.

We should welcome those opportunities, IMHO.

Fully agreed, Jack, but, uh... I was referring to the OP's worry of it being against his patriotic duty to smoke a CC on the 4th. It was mostly in jest anyway - I don't expect anyone to actually smoke one of those Kinksters.
