At Obama's request the U.S. Secret Service began protecting him in May 2007, 18 months before the general election and the earliest a presidential candidate has received protection.

Imagine the gun control laws he would pass if he got into office.

"Tthey cling to guns or religion .... as a way to explain their frustrations"

Sounds about right to me. It's about time someone stepped up to the plate about the gun problem.

Not that I'd place much faith in the accuracy of the content of anything produced by the RNC. Wink

I think Obama getting a gun pointed at him is just a preview of things to come if he wins.

Are Americans actually ridiculous enough to shoot a man over political ideology, or is your assertion because of his race?

In a nation of 300,000,000 I am sure there are a handful who would shoot any politician just because.

That's right - demonize citizens who exercise their rights to enjoy a longstanding American tradition of responsible gun ownership. The problem here is not that individuals own firearms. The "gun problem" is a manufactured result of a completely unfounded interpretation of the 2d Amendment and antipathy to individualism - something I hope the Supreme Court remedies soon in their decision to the DC gun ban case.
