When will celebrities learn that, by and large, we do not care about their politics, liberal or conservative...we just want them to entertain; after all, that's what *we* pay them for!

Linda Ronstadt was not censored..she was kicked out for p*ssing off the audience and harming the bottom line of the Aladdin hotel..she can say whatever she wants, whenever she wants, just not on the dime of those who are paying for her music.

Celebrities, etc. are only angry because they are feeling repurcussions of their words in financial terms (remember the Dixie Chicks). If they are willing to speak out on issues dear to them, they should be willing to accept the consequences of fans voting with thier feet and wallets. The govt. will not, and should not, get involved, but private individuals and businesses can.

"What about the other half of the crowd at the Aladdin who, according to the Las Vegas Sun, cheered her when she made her remarks? Did you throw them out, too?," Moore said.

Moore is so full of himself and the notion of being a political activist that he ignores the simple facts. Half of the people may have cheered, but 100% would have sat quietly and enjoyed the show if she had shut her mouth.

This is all getting a bit out of hand methinks. Some folks need to take a chill pill.....they are all going to die of hypertension or stroke. Where is the tolerance and unvoiced apathy of the good ol' pot smoker... Big Grin

Las Vegas

A waste of time, energy and real estate.
I see no redeeming value in it.

I am proud never to have visited it and I will never visit it.
If I'm on a road nearby I'll take the biggest MF beltway around it. If my airflight is forced down into its airport I'll drink poison before I land.

And some people call it "Vegas". I guess they are trying to save time.

Las Vegas is a blast. And you can smoke cigars anywhere.

Ronstadt spoke her mind. The people spoke theirs. The casino management spoke their minds.

Sound like freedom to me, eh?

The outspoken Ronstadt, who has long supported the Democratic Party, has been dedicating "Desperado" to Moore at each of her performances in recent weeks.

She told the Las Vegas Review Journal before Saturday's explosive concert that she was appalled at the Republican Bush administration's invasion of Iraq.

"I don't understand this country sometimes and I really fear for it," she told the paper last week.

I just wonder one thing here and maybe our Liberal friends of this forum can help me. How come Linda didn't have any problems with Clinton bombing the **** out of Bosnia and Moore didn't make a film about it. After all the Serbs in no way no how EVER have they threaten the US, in fact they were our allies in the WWII. And how come these "fine" Americans don't mention Clinton and his position in 98 when he said that Iraq's president has got to go by any means. Just wondering here.

I have to agree with MarkAl (being a musician as well) If you have a political statement to make make it by choosing certain songs. Don't tell the audience why or who you are dedicating the songs to or the choices you made. For the most part audiences are inteligent and will be able to make the connection. If not then they will enjoy and evening of music.

You are employed to perform not to voice your politcal opinion on the masses. If that is your choice then start recording protest songs.

Vegas doesn't care much for you either. Roll Eyes

It's not for everyone. But I know lots of people who claimed they would hate it, but ended up loving it. It's helluva lot better than Atlantic City, thats for sure.

She also said earlier that if she knows Republicans or Fundamental christians are in the crowd it ruins her enjoyment. What? It's a concert. What the hell do you care what a person's political beliefs are in the audience? I'm a hard core conservative, but I don't dislike liberals. I don't like their politics. Who the hell dislikes someone because of that?

It's an old one-liner joke when people complain about something...sorry if you didn't get that.

Anyways, thanks for the description of LV that every 5 yr old kid already knows. Take out the hookers, and that describes Disneyland and every other amusement park. LV is like a huge amusement park now. It's not just for gambling anymore. It's cheesy, but people enjoy a little cheese when it's for a visit and vacation. So just relax on your tirade about a place you've never been.

Has anyone noticed that Linda is starting to resemble M. Moore? Scroll down and check out the pic.

Also, I guess you are really an "entertainer" and not an artist if you only sing covers. Maybe she should let artists make political statements through their art, not incoherent ramblings.

Hey Qmike, you seem to know a lot about Vegas for somebody who's never been there... Big Grin

And yeah, you can smoke anywhere. There's an ashtray in every restroom, and even in the bathroom stalls. Just pack your own smokes though, because the ones they sell there are overpriced.

Don't forget Bruce Willis. Come to think of it, I think conservatives would whoop liberals in a grudge match. Arnold, Willis, and Selleck vs Alda, Danson, and Tim Robbins.

"I want people to get their head up out of their mashed potatoes and learn something about the issues and go and vote. ... I'm not telling them how to vote. I'm saying, get information about the issues."

Yeah, like she hasn't had her head buried in food lately... she's looking like Rosie O'donell. Get information about the issues by watching a movie full of lies made by an anti-american socialist...

Why do Republicans call dems and libs Anti-American? I phucking hate that and I don't understand it. I don't care for Bush, but I certainly don't think he's Anti-American.
