I don't really follow the ins and outs of MLB baseball the way I follow the NFL or NBA but I am aware of how the minor leagues is part of the game. In this case Manny Ramirez is about to come off his 50 game suspension and needs to get back into game shape. I get that. So my question is this: is it "okay" for him to walk out after he feels he's gotten enough plate appearances while his team is batting? Quote from article:

"Ramirez left while the 66ers batted in the bottom of the sixth, and was escorted by security to a white SUV and left without speaking to reporters."

I would think it is not ok. His considerable ego is showing as usual.

To answer your question, no it's not okay. He did the same thing this past week here in Albuquerque. He does what ever he wants to do. I don't think it's right for him to play during his suspension because he's taking up a roster spot that could be used by someone who is trying to work up to the big leagues. If you're suspended for 50 games, then you should sit out the entire 50 games. Manny is not a positive role model for kids. Besides the Dodgers don't need him. They're doing just fine.

He is a classless individual with a huge ego. Unfortunately, Manny is blessed with the ability to hit a major league pitch as good as anybody who has played the game pretty much.

I think it is wrong that he is allowed to tune up in the minors before coming back July 3rd when his suspension is done, but that is the rules in MLB.

I hope he falls flat on his face when he comes back, but I doubt he will.

I think the first game he bailed out on was weather related...I know the field was wet...and the dodgers managment did'nt think the risk was worth it.

The second game....Hey he's a dirt bag.

Maybe he put the game on in the white SUV to a local AM station to see if the 66'ers went on to glory?
Pull-ease. The 66er's got more press and ticket sales in his 2 games than they ever could have dreamed. So maybe they should thank ManRam.

The bigger problem in my eyes is that MLB allowed him to play at all. The same penalties are in place for minor leaguers whom test positive for a PED - can they then go play legally at the MLB level? Of course not. It's just another example of Bud Selig's BS - outside of interleague play, he's been completely useless.

Worse is that he hasn't followed MLB tradition and bought a big dinner spread from a nice resturant for the guys on the minor league teams he's played with so far.

MLB probably needs to address this rule but he's not doing anything wrong. I think its classless to leave when your team is playing but we don't know the whole story and probably wont ever find out. MLB is broken in so many ways and its going to take a long time to fix and be respectable again. I agree, Selig needs to go and they need a non owner as commish. Heck, let Rose be commish.

I agree a suspension should be a suspension. The minors are a part of the major league system.

If he wanted to go play in a semi pro or foriegn league he should be able to.

As to walking off, it is a cliche, there is no I in team. He should give 100% to the team he is playing with. anything less is an injustice to the players and the owner of the team not to mention the fans.

IMHO
