I am moved to tears by your generous offer to host my cigars in safety as we ride out the storm!
I'm an insurance adjuster. If my smokes are damaged by a covered peril, I'll just have to be indemnified for their value under my personal property coverage. It pays to know the rules!
Hey Prez, are those idiots from Texas going to want to depreciate my smokes because some of them are a couple years old?

Hope you make it through OK Andy....We FINALLY got a roofer to look at our house last week (almost a year later - we had no leakage, so they put us on the back burner because we thought it was just some minor cosmetic damage)...and Tuesday they dropped the bomb on us ....wind damage from the last batch of hurricanes = new roof...40K +!!! (we have a cedar shake roof)....I nearly had a heart attack....the pool screen was bad enough (4K).....
Insurance should cover it...but it still came as a shock. With my luck, just about the time we get it finished.....we'll get whacked again.

Wow! Bob, let me know if you have any drama with that. This thing has a couple of forecast tracks that swing it out into the Gulf, then back into Central Florida. If so, we're gonna be herfing at Corona for weeks on end! Maybe the roof will get ripped off that place! I'll adjust that loss!

Hello to all, We got pretty whacked on Thursday night and haven't had power since. I am writing this from my office in another part of the county which is the only place with both power and Internet.
We lost some fence, greenery and got LOTS of wind and water, but no real damage and family is just fine. Thanks to all for the thoughts/prayers.
I'll catch you all around here when we get our power back on. Andy

Glad to hear your family made it through ok Andy. I know what it's like not to have power for a few days (we lost power for three & four days in two of the 'caines last year). No fun, especially in Florida in August.... and the cleanup is a bear.
I guess we need to pray for the folks up in Louisiana now...TPSO, hope you have your stash in a safe place. I'm sure you will be busier than a one-armed paper hanger in the next week or so. Take care...

We've got a nephew and niece in New Orleans, he works for the Sheriffs and can't leave and she has packed up and has headed toward Texas with a sister. Hope all turns out well.
We were without electricity and gas for one week after the 89 earthquake and it was not a good time especially when the inside of the house turned upside down. Will be saying a prayer for all you Florida and Louisiana folks.

Andy my friend, I hope your power comes back on soon...and to the people in this monster's path...get away now. This will probably hit the bayou basin stronger than any other hurricane ever has, even more so than Andrew when it came through Florida, and we know how bad that was. My prayers are with everyone in that area.
Mike

Thanks guys, I just popped in for a minute to check e mail, and gather some clothes. I'll be spending the night at the sheriffs office. If the storm stays on it's current path, then the eye is gonna pass right over my house. (I live about 30 miles from the coast, Terrebonne Parish). I hope my home is here when I return. But to be sure, I'll be out of power for a long time, so if you guys don't hear from me for a while, then thats the reason. Take care and wish me luck. gotta go!! Brent
