Last night I was up with some friends drinking and smoking cigars. This morning I woke up and my chest was (and is) very tight and painful, I can't take more than a minimal breath, and it hurts to walk more than a few steps. I'm a newb and I know this is stupid, in my drunken state I obviously inhaled the entire cigar...but how long will this last and will it go away? Does anyone else ever experience this? I can't believe how uncomfortable it is and how if it was slightly worse I would be on my back. I hope I didn't damage my lungs...or am I over reacting?

Do you smoke cigarettes? Usually non-cigarette smokers don't inhale, but cigarette smokers do either intentionally or unintentionally. It will pass, but try to make a conscious effort next time to not inhale. Yes you have damgaged your lungs, we all do to some extent by smoking cigars. But I wouldn't worry too much, it'll pass.
Thanks for the info BinDer...no I don't smoke cigs and I don't inhale cigars either...BUT, I went to the DR today and found it wasn't my lungs that were bothering me at all, but my heart, so more tests tomorrow.
Good news so far, however, is that I don't have to lay off cigars!

I had my ascending aorta replaced in December and was smoking cigars in January. Doc (not Barry) said it was totally cool. Hope your heart troubles go as good as mine did.

Sometimes I smoke cigars and cigarettes at the same time. My lungs are sometimes painful after a 1 or 2 pack night. I don't inhale cigars though. That will hurt ya real bad. Most of the time my chest hurts it goes away a few hours after I wake up.
Hard work may pay off eventually but laziness always pays off now.
