Makes you wonder a couple of things, how many countries really have or are working on WMD, how much stuff the majority of citizens don't know, and how many more volital weapons are being developed? Another thing Russia was supposed to be in dire straits financially, but all of a sudden BAM. I'm sure it wasn't cheap to produce those missiles.

What I don't understand is why money is still spent building more nukes. We can already destroy the earth many times over.
Funny how some countries think a nuclear war can actually be won.

Last I looked, many countries were building or had nukes...hate to say it, but only sure fire way to avoid regime change is to have some N-power...Euros are smoking serious crack if they think Iran is giving up its weapons program ever...Russia just need enough weapons to make a missle defense unusable.
The risk of kicking butt is you get some crap on your shoe
It seems these are different kinds of nukes being developed to combat terrorism. What that is I don't know. But what the hell. If they want to take the heat and nuke some bad guys, we still reap the benefits.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. I'm glad you caught that, Mamerro. Putin says it's to combat terror. I take that to mean that he would like to nuke Chechnya.

I would suggest nukes as a viable way to combat terrorism on the Pakistan / Afghanistan border. Give them 24 hours to hand over Taliban and Al Quada... then boom. I would suggest we go boom even if they hand them over
A very efficient way to ensure no survivors in that very difficult terrain.
Just another reason not to trust the Russion government. They can not afford it and will do a half ass job building it and will most likely have major problems with it at the expense of their soldiers. Then they will scrap it. My biggest consern is it getting into the hands of terrorist or countries like Iran or North Korea.

You can throw rock and hit Chechnya from Russia (it's so close), you don't need ICBM.

They don't think so. That’s why nobody started nuclear war yet. Countries like Iran and N. Korea wants to have them, so they will have power to negotiate. They perfectly know that they can't win nuclear war, especially with United States
Maybe France and other European countries will think twice before ruining relationship with US. They did needed American protection from Soviet Union at the time of Cold War.
What other choices Russian have? They have to reply to USA:s decicion to build a missile defence system. When oil prices are this high Russia is making some serious money and remember that Russia is the most wealthiest contry when you look at their natural resources.
Why is Iran developing nukes? My point of view is because Israel have one. If they don't have one, why don't they let IAEA to inspect their facilities. A nuke is great way to prevent Israel or USA to attack them. Same thing with North Korea.
From Iran's point of view, the axis of evil is USA, Israel and GB. All these countries have nukes, they must have one, too.
Only one country have ever dropped a nuclear bomb to another country, and one wasen't enough

Israel has way more than one. By getting nuklear bomb, country like Iran makes themself number one target for Israel.
Point was Israel has nukes, not one, many. Why is it OK for Israel not to let IAEA in country, but it is almoust a reason for war when talking about Iraq or Iran.

I agree, Silverzone! This is lots more fun that working. The thread's been interesting to follow, although I've been in denial as to war and international relations difficulties ever since the Vietnam war, so I don't have much to contribute.
