My Hygrometer has obviously seen it best days. I bought a couple digital hygrometers and they read 60%. So i bought the 2 way system packs - the 69% ones. Put them into the humidor and now my Digital says 69%. So all along my old hygrometer was wrong and my cigars were at 60% and 72 degrees for months. How will this affect my cigars, the fact they have been at 60 - 62% for several months and now at 69% going forward? THANKS!
I usually keep my cigars at 65% RH. In the dead of winter here in NYC the RH in my den might be 17% and it sucks the moisture right out of my humidors. That's why I use electronic humidification. When the humidifiers run low on water the alarms go off, but if that happens in the middle of the night my humidor might go to 62% before I can replenish the water.
If there was a humidifier in the humidor your cigars probably will recover.

My humidors have 65% RH beads and I let them drop to ~60% RH before adding more water to the beads. More often than not, they are at 60% RH for a week before I get around to adding water and the cigars are just fine. As a matter of fact, I prefer having the RH bounce between 60% and 65%. I never have any burn problems, and the smokes are perfect IMO.
Thanks guys. I appreciate the response. Actually now, I have two remote weather stations for my two humidors. The little sensor fits nicely tucked away on the middle shelf in both. The two bases are side by side in my family room so I can see them from my chair. It tells me RH and TEMP inside the humidors. Plus I have the 2 way humidi packs that last for 3 months and keep them at a constant 69%. Not going to have that happen again! ha.
