Yes and now you have an opportunity to try many fine DC, HC, and AC. We are all winners here, so do not complain as the fine editors of CA are saving you many $$ on these cheaper, yet more exquisite smokes.

Cor: Steve, you have proven yourself to be a tremendous whack job.

They're not cheaper. And they sure as hell aren't more "exquisite." Besides, once all the major international collectors get their recent copies of CA, there will no doubt be a run on Pepin Garcias and CAOs. You better stock up!

Everyone knows Cuban cigars are all hype, which is the REAL reason for the embargo.

NCs have more exquisite bands. Cubans will never master the art that Gurkha, Sosa, Gran Habano, Felipe Power, San Cristobal, CAO, Ashton, and OpusX have put into their band designs!

maybe so, but NC's will never master the art of actually making a complex cigar..

A big part of that art is in the special air, soil, water and sun of Cuba. So it's not that they are unable to master, but rather it is simply impossible physically.

I personally wonder about CC's (and to some extent NC's as well) that were tested and didn't make it to the top 25. That might explain a lot (or alternatively, confuse the situation even more)

And the World Series is not really the world series is it?

Because Cubans might kick ass there too.

Part of the question is how many CCs were actually rated during the year. If a cigar wasn't rated, it won't be on this list.

And, since CA targets a primarily American audience, it makes sense to focus primarily on cigars that are widely available in the states.

Just a thought.

makes sense.. but then again, the Hoyo de Monterrey EL 2007 was rated, it scored a 92 (I beleive).. yet the CAO vision scored higher on the top 25 ???

It may be nice to know which ones didn't make the cut, it would cause more discussions and maybe more input from the editors which I think is nice to see.

They can't have it both ways. If they want to make some sort of definitive list of the top 25, then they need to consider everything available. If they want to call it the top 25 for Americans, then they should completely take habanos out of the mix.

But if they think that less than 20% of the best cigars in the world are Cuban, then they simply have poor taste in cigars. It's not as if they have advanced degrees in cigar tasting . . .

Good point Sal.

i just don't get it..... where are the mods on this one ??

it just seems that every year, there is this huge debate once the top 25 list comes out.. and every year, it's the same issue... 80+% are NC's....

this is plain wrong.. i think they should have 2 top 25 lists... a CC one, and an NC one... now that would be right.. I think I'll go post this suggestion in the Dear Editors section.. I'll see if we get more answers there...
