I have been keeping a cigar journal with my bands. Back in the late 90's I had one of the Cigar Dossier books these days I just keep my own journal made from a Moleskin notebook.

I'm saving mine for covering one of my humidors, as a memento. Kind of like the way people used to keep their destinations plastered all over their luggage.
So many cigars, so little time...

I used to tape mine in the back of a cigar book I had. Now I keep them in a cigar box but only from the cigars I like, which are the only ones I bother rating anymore (except for CC's which I rate even if I don't like them). Just one band for each distinct brand and I keep the cuban and non cuban bands separate. Don't know if I'll ever do anything with them. It's mainly just kind of a personal collection.
I fold them to the shield, fold that in 3rds then top to bottom, then put it in my pocket and before going to bed, toss it in the trash. Now I do have a furnace room workbench littered with about 25 empty boxes my wife says are a fire hazard so soon will go on the neighborhood bonnfire pile. The only thing worth saving are the next cigars.

I started pasting them into a scrapbook a few years ago. I only paste one of each brand or size. The good thing about that was in order to expand my scrapbook, I had to try a lot of new cigars. Recently, JR"s has helped by expanding their 5 pack line.
I save mine too. Just to remember the times when I smoked them. Like the Dominican Cohiba my wife and I smoked in Puerto Plata. I'll remember that night because of the band I saved.
I have one question about this "bandwagon" thingy.
What do they do with the old bands?
Make counterfiets?

For any of you that normally throw yours away, I'd gladly take them off your hands, so that I can work towards that excellent Cigar Store Indian for my Man Cave And then maybe the H. Upmann humidor.

The Club Macanudo, in NY, has a couple of larger (4'x6') frames along their enterance hallway, that are filled with pre-Castro bands that are pasted down and laquored. While I can't match the vintages, I am aiming to do something similar with my bands

I'm looking at that Upmann humidor as well. It seems very nice.
fuzzuki, I don't know what they do with the old bans, but I doubt they put them on fake cigars. They even take machine made bands and I don't think anybody is making fake Dutch Masters.

They could be used by the government to track what you smoke. .. I am sure some people that mail those in include the banned CC labels... No I am just kidin' we have a fine government
I used to save them in a book and rate the cigar but after a year it was a pain...I have 3 old tables in my "man room" so about 5 years ago I glued bands to the table tops. No pattern, just a collage. Then I had my brother cut me some plexi to go on top and now I have some unique old beat-up tables. One is nothing but OpusX bands, the other 2 have a big variety since I enjoy trying out different smokes. I also have a policy in the man room...always leave your band. Those that aren't on the tables are in cigar boxes.
some smoke 'em as long as they can...I prefer to smoke 'em as short as I can

Got any pics of your "man room" and your tables? Thanks.
