I'll be in NYC for a week on business and this will be my first trip with the smoking ban in effect. Usually I could get a good smoke from Ben Benson's or sneak a cigar at the bar at Gallagher's but I guess those days are over. I don't have time because of my schedule to make it by cab at lunchtime to the Davidoff store on Madison -- anyone know of any good stores/bars in the neighborhood of the Javitz center or my hotel, which is around 52nd and Broadway?
there is a good shop on 6th and 56 st., that is 2 blocks east and 4 blocks north from your hotel. Nice selection, but not really nice seating. There is a JR on 5th and 48 st, I believe, and Nat Sherman on 42 and 5th or 6th. Real good lounge there and I think they have single malt tastings on Thursdays. There is a Dunhill store as well with a nice lounge somewhere on 5th ave in the 50's. Club Macanudo is in the 70's on the west side.
The risk of kicking butt is you get some crap on your shoe
Love Nat Sherman's on Thursday with the scotch tastings. They have a lounge with big leather chairs and a flat screen. Nothing is better. Check out their website to see what's scheduled.
