I agree with you. Both of these shows are terrific. Although not really News shows, it can still be argued that "the only news show worth watching on TV is The Daily Show." No wonder Jon Stewart has won so many Emmys for his show.
Steven Colbert, who started out on "The Daily Show", has done something unique. His show has become great by itself ... yet it doesn't take anything away from Stewart's show. And the two shows are really quite different.
Now for a more serious take on the news, check out "Scarborough Country" &/or "Countdown with Keith Olbermann". Both are good, and both can also be annoying at times.

If you like to watch "comedians" suck up to Democrats and lefties, yeah, they're terrific shows.
I don't like how Colbert treats a lot of his guests. Yeah, it's his schtick, but it doesn't mean I have to think it's funny.
I bet these shows are huge in Canada. Europeans love them, too.

I saw Jon Stewart for the first time last year at my college reunion and he was great. I am sure he and Steve Colbert are dyed in the wool liberals but they skewer both sides of the aisle.
I watch them every chance I get. I agree greast satire.

I always wonder, why many yanks, deem all humour to be leftist and liberal.
I never said that. Go watch any of Jeff Foxworthy's comedy and you will see a "conservative" comedian. The two shows you mentioned are highly political and anti-Bush and anti-Republican. Hell, look at Hollywood in general.

Yeah, if you like leftist satire, they are very clever to be sure. I'm just astounded at how many (usually young) people regard these as real news shows! Even more astounding is that Olbermann thinks he's clever and also thinks his is a news show. Scarborough is ok, but incessantly agenda driven, seeing all things through his political prism. This coming from a conservative. I like O'reilly. Sees the big picture, especially in terms of the assault on our culture. He gives people a say, but suffers no fools. Like me.

Depends on how you define the term "conservative." Seems to me that you are implying that conservatism means moral fundamentalism.

Absolutely hilarious. If those are your presuppositions about American culture and government, no amount of logic and reason is going to help you.

In my stars I am above thee; but be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.
Heaven restore thee!
