I have a humidor on the way, but a friend gave me 10 cigars, which are drying out. I have a puck, which I soaked in distilled water for a couple hours. I put the cigars into a tupperware container with the puck....sealed it up. Will this work until my humidor gets here and I can season it for 7 days? Or are there any better suggestions? I took the cigars out of the cellophane. Thanks. jim

Do you have a hygrometer to keep track of the humidity and temp inside the tupperware container? I've never tried it before but I think most here on this forum will tell you that this will work as long has you're keeping proper temp and humidity levels inside the container.

No, I don't. And, having a nice humidor enroute, I do not really want to go buy one. I may just take my chances. I may just need to get to smoking.

just remember to open the tuppeware once a day to allow air exchange.

Do you have propolyene glycol (available at pharmacy) or humidor solution for the puck?

I have had good luck with a Boveda pacj in my travel humidor.

When you say you soaked the puck, do you mean you charged it or you actually let it sit in some water?

If you have something that resembles a puck but actually has green foam in it then thats not "The Puck". If you did buy "The Puck" and it has beads in it, then soaking it in water definitely saturated the beads and wont work as designed. In any case, you should monitor the humidity with a hygrometer as you run the risk of over humidifying your sticks.

This can lead to bad tasting smokes or worse, your sticks will take in too much humidity, expand, and crack. But if you do have "The Puck" and charged it correctly then leaving them in a tupperware is perfectly fine. Just open it up and exchange the air every few days.

Take the humidification device out and keep the Tupperware closed until your new humidor arrives and it is properly seasoned.

10 cigars should have enough moisture to keep each other company for a week or so in a Tupperware.

It looks like a puck and the brand on it is Credo. I soaked it in distilled water.

I smoked another cigar when I got home from work. It was a Romeo Y Juliete Vintage, which is a very light, easy smoke. I got tongue-bite from almost the start and it had that dry taste, which I hate. It burned fairly well, but I can tell the cigars are starting to dry a little. The wrapper of the cigar felt like it had definitely gotten some moisture from the humidification overnight. I am probably going to stop smoking them and just wait until I get the humidor. I will give them several weeks and hopefully they will recover.

The cigars I got came from mail order and I have always been tentative about ordering cigars. A friend had them for about a week, after delivery, before I got them.

When you have a good humidor, working properly, and you store cigars for a length of time. Are they as good as cigars you smoke right out of the local cigar store? My hope is to be able to buy cigars by the box and have them be as sweet as they are from the store.
