Finally back from Punta Cana.

No Cuban's there, only the infamous Cohiba glass top and fake square boxes of Cohiba Esplendidos wrapped in plastic seal. Should have been in flat rectangular boxes.

But, I did find Opus X's for $56US a stick. Passed on those.

Had 3 nice Cuban's that I brought with me, and I will post that review in the Cuban forum.

I found the same thing in Puerto Plata.

One problem with them being in the free trade zone is that they have to export then import cigars like the opus x in order to sell them there. They get real expensive.

You can find some fantastic local sticks though. I had a great time sampling some of the local stuff.

Help me I'm falling!!!

Steve,

Did you go to the cigar shop over at the Iberostar resorts?

Out of curiosity were there any cigars at all available in the airport duty free?

Who came up with those glass topped boxes and why do they keep on with them. By now everyone should know they are fakes.

Curious about the duty free. I have bought some at those and did not think they were fakes.

The duty free was limited to spirits, and not a great selection at that. The only Dominican cigars that I found were really over priced, with Opus X's at $56 US a stick.

Thanks for the response just imagine the price of the Opus without being duty free. I was going to write without the duty but that didn't sound right for some reason.

When I was in the Dominican a year ago, the duty free shop at the airport did have some cubans. There were Montecristos, and some Cohibas. Prices were resonable. I didn't try to buy any though, the next stop was the U.S.A!
