I have just got my first humidor (150) and am trying to season it ready for the sticks - I Live in South Australia where in summer it gets extremly hot (around)110 and winter (now) its getting down to around 33 (night) - the humi is sitting at around 52.
To control the temperature during the cold has anyone thought of a heat mat or old electric blanket and does this work?

Don't you have central heating in your home?

I guess you could use one of those hot rocks like they put in pet cages or sit the humidor on a mat if it really gets and stays that cold.

in summer time use a Haire wine cooler as a humidor. Modify it by placing thin pieces opf cedar over the back of the fridge to prevent condensation from reaching the cigars and use Climmax beads as a humidification media

Thanks you really are the Doc.

Humi is located in my office and heating shuts down at night and for summer I dont really want to go to the expense of buying a wine fridge just to keep my sticks cool.

I will give the heat mat a go and let you know.

Climax beads?????????? wrong forum dude - must be a New York thing

Thanks again

Have been using a old electric blanket and it has worked no problems - only use on really cold nights.
