Ok, important thread. Big Grin

What do you drink with your cigar? Do you have a favorite? Do you change it up? Is there a year of wine or a batch of scotch that holds a special place in your heart?

Share away!

From Memorial Day to Labor Day I usually drink Gin and Tonic on weeknights and a Martini on Saturday night.

From Labor Day to Memorial Day I usually drink BROWN LIQUOR, Scotch (Lagavulin 16 or Bowmore) Bourbon (Woodford reserve) Cognac (Hennessy or Remy) weeknights and a Martini on Saturday night.

I also sometimes enjoy wine with dinner, Port or Sherry after Dinner and on cold Sundays I put just a wee dram of Jamison in my afternoon coffee

Wow where to start.

Beer: anything dark and robust, esp. Belgian Ales, or Three Floyd Wheat Beers. Check out RateBeer, and just buy'm and try'm

Rum: Havana Club 7 and 15 year old and Barrel Select, El Dorado 16 and 21 year old (my personal favorite), Appleton 21 year old

Single Malt: MaCallan Cask Strength (my personal favorite), HighLand Park 21 and 25, Glenlivet 18, 21, and 25, Lagavulin (very salty), Johnnie Walker Blue, Ashentoshen Cask Strength (one of the best)

Bourbon: Van Winkle 12, 15 and 21, Jack Daniels Single Barrel, Wild Turkey Rare Breed (my personal favorite), Makers Mark

Cognac: Hine Antique, Cov XO, Hardy

Match robust strength cigars with a robust drinks, but not an over powering drink. You will have to experiment a bit to find out what your tastes are.

Some experienced cigars smokers prefer water or a Coke. Go figure.

Above all, have fun finding out what your cigar and beverage matches are.

Blueberry Godiva Slide:

Blueberry Stoli
Carolyns Irish Cream
Kaluha
Godiva White Chocolate liquer
Skim milk

I couldn't tell you the exact mix because I tend to hand pour into 32oz cups

Here goes in no particular order, Johnny Walker Blue, Dewer's 12 yr, Makers Mart Manhattan, Penfolds Thomas Hyland Shiraz, however while overseas it is Coors and Becks N/A. I really hate General Order #1

Honestly, I switch it up quite a bit. Some nights I'm happy with a beer, some nights a soda, or water, or coffee or a spirit or cocktail.

Lately I've been on a cocktail kick. Rediscovering Manhattans, Side Cars, Satan's Whiskers, Jasmines, Martinis, Old Fashioneds and my new favorite - the Sazerac cocktail.

I'm a big bourbon drinker and have several great bottles - Maker's Mark, Bulliet, Buffaloe Trace, Jefferson's Reserve, Black Maple Hill's 8yr, Pappy Van Winkle 12yr and Eagle Rare 17yr. <drooooool> Wink So a few fingers of bourbon (maybe with a single ice cube or a splash of water) and I'm ready to have whatever smoke I decide.

Great thread Bear!

Cheers!

WOOHOO!!! BevMo online, here I come!

Lots of great drinks here, and I plan on grabbing a few of the hard liquor you guys have mentioned.

My choice in rum right now is Captain Morgan's Private Stock. Has a FANTASTIC boquet and the spices added bring an amazing depth out of any decent cigar.

Bear

PS- I never drink soda (coke, etc.) with my smoke.

I have been on a mojito kick for a couple months now. I found this recipe a while back and have been using it , I just cut down the lime juice (1 lime = 3 drinks).

http://www.tasteofcuba.com/mojito.html

I also like JW Black label, or a couple frosty mugs of Yuengling with a smoke.

Knob Creek or Wild Turkey Rye Whiskey. Two fingers of spirits in a highball glass accompanied by two cubes of ice. Repeat as necessary.
