I was wondering if one does not add water to the heartfelt beads or exquisitcat litter, would it function as bulk dry desicant, such as for storage areas requiring the lowest possible humidity (i.e. combating rust)?

It would act as dessicant but only for humidities that are higher than approximately 65% relative humidity in the air.

It would accumulate the water untill it became water logged. At which point it would not dessicate below approximately 65 % RH.
