Have read that a lot of you have gone to the Punta Cana area. What hotels have you guys stayed at. I am planning on a trip this May and have been looking at the Bahia Prinicipe and wondered if any of you have stayed there. Just looking for some suggestions.

I have just returned from Puerto Plata, a lovely place. Id think twice about visiting Punta Cana, there has been a malaria outbreak there, there are travel warnings for that part of the island.

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII have become, comfortably numb.

I stayed at the Iberostar Bavaro a year-and-a-half ago and loved it. The grounds were beautiful, and you gotta love all-inclusives... That whole stretch of beach is georgeous. I will return some day.

Make sure to try some of those excellent "Don Lucas" cigars! Wink Seriously though, have fun and let us know how the trip was. I was thinking of going to the DR next year myself.

I'm pretty sure that you are ok to put a torch lighter in your checked luggage but I'm not 100% positive.

Bavaro Beach resort was okay.

This should be in the food, drink, travel forum.

well I guess torch lighters aren't aloud on planes. What should I do for a lighter when I get over there?
