My main time to smoke on a daily basis is on my commute home. I usually bring two cigars with me "just in case".

So yesterday was terrible. Wanted to try my first lancero, a Pinar Del Rio Oscuro. Remembered hearing that you should smoke a lancero slowly, so I tried. Kept going out. Smoked faster, got too hot, too soft. I just couldn't find the balance so I decided to chuck it. What's the secret?

Lit my backup, another new one to try, a Patel Bros Toro. Started off great but an inch in, couldn't keep it going. Fought with it for 30 minutes then threw in the towel.

Mama said there'd be days like this.....

Depends on how you smoke in the car. Was the humidity off? Was it rainy? It sounds like both your cigars were over humidified slightly, but you may have had a wind issue.

I smoke on longer commutes in the car. I only smoke less desirable cigars in case there is a wind issue. I also smoke with only one window slightly cracked and the air (not necessarily the AC) on at least med. I ALWAYS have to touch up a cigar I smoke in the car because of the strange air flow.

Best of luck, hope it helps!

That sucks Tim. Sounds like the lancero was either too wet or plugged. Good news though, your sampler should be on it's way tonight. And there's a lancero I there, too! Hopefully this one will smoke better.

I feel your pain. I began dry-boxing all my lanceros for a bit before putting them in the humidor. helps tremendously with the burn on them

I see that when smoking in the car as well. I love having a cigar on a long ride, but you do have to be aware of the wind as that is one of the main reasons for a cigar going out. You do have to pay more attention to the cigar I find. Also if it goes out, it is hard to re-lite while driving so wait for a stop or pull over and make sure you get it going thoroughly. This is long as the cigar is in proper condition, which I am sure it is. Just try to balance the wind coming in to the car and not blowing directly on your cigar. Also make sure your draws are long and not short as that will assist your continued burn. Hope it helps.
