I've always used a double guillotine. But, I'd be open to trying a punch and seeing how it affects the smoking characteristics of the cigar.

I used to clip exclusively..however lately I have been using a punch. I think it is almost a crime to have a cigar with a beautiful triple capped head and then use a cutter to mangle it.

I do have to admit that I have found that some cigars smoke better when cut rather than punched.

GONZO !!!

Whichever seems better at the time.. I normally will use the Xikar, but some smokes just do so well with a punch cut.

I like my punch. I just prefer the mouth-feel of an intact head.

Of course, it took a lot of practice to get good at using my punch on a torpedo.

I used to use a double guillotine all the time. The guy at the cigar bar punch one of my cigars and I rather liked the way it smoked and felt in my mouth. Ever since then, I use a punch for anything bigger than about a 40 ring size and the cutter on smaller stuff or torpedos.

A double blade cutter always does the trick for me.

1st choice is double blade cutter, then single blade, then teeth, then punch.

The only time I tried a punch was with the LFD Chisels and my smoking experience was comparable to a clip, so now I just clip those also.

I always used my double blade guillotine like most guys but I bought a punch a few days ago at my B&M. Today I smoked a Punch Rothschild with the punch cut and it was great. I'll use it on every cigar I can from here on. If I can't fix a tight draw with a paper clip I'll use the cutter. No more unravelling of wrappers or the remaining parts of the cap stuck to my lips.Much nicer feel also.George
