I get magazines (Popular Science, Popular Mechanics, Maxim) and in the back parts by all the ads. The dreaded T word always has a 16 cigar sampler for sale. The one that Im lookin at now (IM NOT GOIN TO BUY IT) has Gurkha, Carlos Torano, Rocky Patel, CAO, Fuente, Padron, Punch, Partagas, Cusano, Hoyo De Monterrey, and some others for $29.95. What Ive always wondered is are these fake/dried out/sub quality or just a way to get you sucked in for never ending catalogs?

Why are John Deere's green? So they can hide in the fields while the Farmall's do all the work.

If you read those ads it never really says what cigars you are going to get.

So it could be a Gurkha or Fuente but not the best/popular of their product lines?

What Doc said. Wink Seriously, I have never been an online vendor sampler fan. I have to try at least three of any particular cigar before I can know whether or not they are really to my liking, and for NCs I like to give a local B&M my patronage, even if it means paying a bit more.

Go to your local and talk to the proprietor about what you like. Try a few sticks and develop a relationship; then when something like Opus or Anejo comes in, he'll let you know, and the time and expense will be all worthwhile. Enjoy.

i actually got that sampler, the 2 toranos were 1959 exodous silver (the same blend that scored highly last year) i got a 1992 vintage petite corona, 2 double chateaus, an Olde world reserve, a cao gold petite corona, a cao italia novella, a chaep ghurka (yet to identify) and a bunch of their house blends, pretty good for 30 IMHO. Smoked a few and no problems

Smokey I ordered one of their samplers like this from an ad they had in Playboy. When It arrived it had everything promised, however they were not humidified very well, all of them were very dry. Of the twelve that came two smoked bad and the rest are currently still in the humi. I purchased them a few months ago prior to being educated by this forum about "t".

I've ordered a couple Thomspon samplers like the one shown. Those are a pretty good deal, especially if you live in a high-tax state.

They're usually as shown, although sizes can be larger or smaller. They do have a tendancy to ship cigars a little too dry. I've had some wrappers crack.

Some of their hosue brands are pretty good; others are very bad.

You will get catalogs forever and phone calls occasionally.
