I am getting married in July of next year. Smile Looking for the best cigar that I can smoke at the reception and that I can save for years to come. By "best" I mean one that would respond well over the years. I think it would be nice to have one on the 5th anniversery, 10th, 20th, etc. I would love to have your opinions on what you would personally choose for yourself. I was thinking NC's. Cubans are a bit hard for me to get, but I might get some to smoke also. I probably will get them the first of the year so they can rest awhile before the big day.

I am aware of previous postings and have looked and found out how to get/make personalized labels, etc., and like the idea of non smoker cheapies. Sorry if this is posted elsewhere, did not find it.

Thanks for your help.

Oh, and GO COLTS!

Cuban:

Partagas Serie D #4
Montecristo #2
Bolivar Belicoso Fino

Non:
Gurkha Legend. These don't even get good till aged at least three years.
Montecristo Afrique Kilimanjaro. Look in 'Reviews' for this one.
Rocky Patel Sun Grown
Opus X Double Corona. I have one of these that is aged 10 years. Gonna have it when my grandson is born in January.

I recently smoked a Punch Gran Puro that I had in the humi for a year and a half. WOW!! age did a wonderful thing to this smoke. It became much more smooth without loosing any flavor.

Even if you don't choose the Gran Puro for your wedding smoke, do yourself a favor and buy one and let it sit and see what I mean! or buy 2-3 and try them at 6mos, 1year, etc to experiment. that's what I'm gonna do. you'll thank me later.

another option I would try are the VSG's, something full flavor will most likely age better than mild.

good luck and congrats!

I agree with Wacco, the Gurkha Legend is a great cigar, but needs time on it for sure.

I have about a dozen Opus X left, that I've had for about 4 years now and they sure seem to age well.

I'm not so sure about the Sun Grown being a good yearly age cigar. It's got a strong flavor but I think that cigar would mellow out too much over time. Of course, that is just speculation on my part. I think a few months tops on the RP Sun Grown would do it well, higher than that might just be a waste.

Gurkha is good, so are Onyx Reserves.

Any Padron. I prefer the madurs myself. The Magnum is especially good with age.

Most any strong premium cigar will age pretty nicely. I would go with an Ashton VSG, Opus, or Trinidad TTT.

Now, now, Ron -
There are lots of guys on this forum who have been married for a long time, are glad to be married, will be staying married.
I am at 24 years of marriage.
So, congratulations, Indymark - and you put some of those cigars away for your later anniversaries. They will probably be great on your 25th. Wish I had thought to do that.

Actually Puffy, Ron is stating fact. Around 50% of people married get divorced. Most of those are over in 5 years or less.

Am I still gettin gmarried? Yup. So what?

Plus he's probably just ribbing the guy.

Don't take yourself too seriously, man.

I know that's true. And, believe me, those who know me know that taking myself seriously is about the last thing I do.
Congratulations to you, too.

I bought a box of Hemingway Signatures when my daughter was born 3 years ago they were good then, but they absolutely spectacular now. I wish I had bought more!

Marrying my wife was the smartest decision I have ever made (8th anniversary on the way).

Oh yeah, like Paul Newman, that ugly POS. Married to the same woman since 1958. I guess you are better looking than him?

Ron - I'm going to assume you are kidding around. Its either that or you win the superficial human being of the year award.
Which is it?
Signed,
Oh, what a terrible life being 20 lbs overweight and not outrageously handsome and married to a wonderful friend and trusted buddy which comes from commitment, Bob

Thank you all for the insight and the wit and sarcasm. Smile I have narrowed it down to a few. I think that i might have to get 2 varities. My short list is:
Montecristo Afrique
Onyx Reserve
Punch Gran Puro
Oliva Master Blend
Comancho
Of course I will be looking to get these in JR alt's. Wink

I also need to try them out in the next few weeks too. Smile Good review on the Kilimanjaro. Sounds great, will try it first.

Thanks again for the input.

I would get a box of Opus, PSD #4 or RASS. That said, a box of any of these doesn't usually live long enough to see much age in my house!
