I've been having a hard time keeping the RH up in my humi (desk top). I had a long awated cigar on Thanksgiving (by that I don't mean a hard to find or special smoke, just that I haven't smoked in a while). I be Darned if the Fuente best seller was dry as a turkey fart. :-(. I think I'm going to keep some in my air tight travel humi for a while with the digital hygrometer and see what happens. If this helps, I'll switch the desktop stash to a tupperware permanently.

nothing wrong with the hygrometer, it corelates with the feel of the obviously dry smokes.
I'm going to get them into an air tight environment like they used to be and had no problems. thanks for the wise A$$ comment, of course it's me. my wife doesn't touch them and my 3 y/o can't reach them. now I can stop looking for the humidity monster in my closet who snatches the humidity out of my humi when I'm not home.

Is your hygrometer humidity and temp or just humidity?
I know I have a He!! of a time as winter settles in until I find the right location (far enough away from any drafty windows and not too close to a radiator) to place my floor-top humi and adjust the Oasis.

I posted a comment earlier about having the settings for a wintery climate (AK) and a seriously dry humidity....maybe you can help out....the humidity inside my cab humi is at 63%...my concern is the temp inside...it is at 75-76 degrees....is that to much? thanks.

The 63% RH is fine but I would be a little worried about the 76 temp. ~80 is where beetle eggs can hatch and if your temp gauge is reading a little low you’re right on the edge.
You have to cool that box down to no more than 72 somehow.

63% isn't too bad. However, get that temp down, especially uf you have CC's. Some have luck using a wine refridgerator.

Appreciate the advise....just a little concerned, I have purchased an Oasis Plus for the cabbie humi...it is reading 64% and the digitial meter is reading 64% too. My big issue is the temp...I have it down to 72 degrees...would like it around 68...any pointers to cool it down....I have moved it around the room, already, to try to find a spot...should i try to re-cure it?

right now my temp is 72 and the RH is 60%. I know that sounds ideal but normally the temp (especially in the summer) is 76-78 and the RH is still only around 60% which makes teh cigars way to dry and smoke hot also severly altering the flavor. I've put a ramakin of water in the humi and still can't bring the RH up. It's in the warmest part of the house.
I have a few smokes in my air tight travel humi with a stick of beads, I'll throw the hygrometer in after a day or two and see what happens. I think my desk top humi can't keep up with my home AC. If this keeps up, I'll trade into tupperware. do you think I need to re season my humi? I've had it for several years.
If your desktop humi has been on the dry side for a while, re-seasoning it is not a bad idea.
I know you are using beads in your travel humidor, but what do you use for your desktop? If it’s the green florist foam, over time the solution that you’re supposed to use once/twice a year to maintain the humidity can clog the humidifier. You can try soaking it in a bowl of distilled water or replacing it. If you use beads or gel you may want to add more. Unscented fresh pearls cat litter is a good cheap alternative to heartfelt beads. Another board member turned me on to it. I recently switched to fresh pearls in on of my desktop humidors, and it keeps a steady 67%. Try putting some of the fresh pearls in the ramekin instead of just distilled water.
I have been using beads in my desktop (although old and probably not useful anymore). I just put that same bead stick in the travel to see what it would do in there.
two days ago I refilled my water pillow (that has been in there) and added the ramikin of water and voila! back up to 70%. since that worked, maybe I'll try re seasoning it again and/or get more pillows. being in a low HR atmosphere for a long time, that just may work.
thanks again, just what I was looking for. I'm sure in another week or two the 30 sticks or so should be more supple and not taste like dry kindling.
