Propolyne Glycol fluid, wonder gel crystals, pillow packs, tubes, or electronic distilled H2O units?
I have been using the fluid but find I am having a difficult time keeping the humidity where I wanted it. I did go ahead and recondition (or reseason - whatever the correct term may be) my humidor and it has helped immensely. I think I just didn't do it right the first time. I just thought that perhaps the fluid was good but not the best choice for keeping my cigars.
The two-way humidi packs are the best way to go. The suck out the humidity if it goes over 69 and add humidity if it goes below 69. Stays a constant 69 without fail.
I recommend either Heartfelt beads or Boveda Paks for a desktop. Both have a downside though. The Boveda Paks don't take much room, they work well, and are very handy to use, but they are not permanent. They require replacement every 50-60 days, so they are a never ending expense. Some recycle them though. The Heartfelt beads just take up a lot of room, and are not as convenient to place in desktops. Obviously, neither of these methods circulate the air. Am currently using the Boveda Paks in three fairly large desktops, but as I reduce their inventory, plan on going back to the beads. For smaller desktops, ie, 100 ct and under, I would use the Boveda Paks.

Boveda works great-- just remember that you need 2 of them for a 50 ct, and 1 extra for each 50 more than the initial 50. I have a full desktop 50ct and use Boveda. If you double that up with a PG crystal humidifier, you're not replacing the bovedas as often. (I use a 50ct Xikar).
