Hey Guys,

I need your advice on something. I have a room over my garage that is currently used as a study/office but I am getting ready to move a couch, bigger tv and poker table up there to make a study/smoking room (getting ready for Winter)!! While I'm at it I'm going to re-paint and was curious which paint type would be best (flat, eggshell or satin).

Also, I'm going to order a Hamilton Beach Air Purifier (seems to be most highly recommended). I have also heard the tricks or using small dishes or white vinegar throughout the room. Any other secrets or suggestions to keep the room from smelling like smoke to the minimum? Thanks in advance!

its a personal preference, but I would never use flat. Flat paint is nearly impossible to clean, but it is the cheapest.

If you are going to be cigar smokin' a bit in there.....go with some sort of gloss or a paint that will easily wipe off any residual things.

I say go with the highest gloss you can stand the more gloss the less things stick to it ie dirt smoke and beer.

Gloss, unless too shiny for you. Leather, not fabric for your couch. Recommend installing a fan that vents to the outside.

Gloss paint, it will stand up to washing, which you may have to do to get rid of smoke residue. I think a fan would be a good idea.

The color of the paint is also important. Dark and rich colors will not show smoke buildup.

And always have a window open when you are smoking, and leave it open afterwards for awhile.

The air purifiers or hepa filter units can only do so much.

You also might want to get a "Csonka" pro model ozone unit which will take out all cigar odor. I like the "pro" model because it is adjustable.
