Been spending some rainy, wet hours out on the balcony. The joys of an apartment complex.

When I'm in NYC I'm obviously smoking at Nat Sherman or Club Macanudo, but honestly my favourite place to truly enjoy a great smoke is back on my favourite strip of beach in Puerto Rico. A little fritura to eat, a cold drink, and my butt in the sand around sunset....

I smoke at www.oldeworldcigarlounge.com in Temecula, CA. The three things I want when smoking is a premium cigar, a comfortable environment and good company. Olde World definitely provides all three of those things.

I also love to smoke in my backyard while sitting around a roaring fire in the fire pit. Doesn't matter what time of year, a fire definitely adds a "throw-back" type feel to my cigar experience.

Another great way to spend time enjoying Gods bounty, cigars and nature, is to water the plants in the evening while consuming my favorite cigar. It also affords a great opportunity to think and contemplate life.

Talking about it makes me wanna go light one up.

Usually at home. During long drives in the car (window rolled down) and -when weather permits- out in the garden.

I used to smoke in my club (Carlton Club, London) before the smoking ban came into effect (July 1st 2007). Now I have to smoke at home, which is o.k. since I have a room designated for cigar smoking (smoking room). Hopefully, the Conservatives will come to power at the next election and reverse the ridiculous smoking ban.

John,

I have a room (about 15X15 feet) in a finished attic that I converted. I installed a Broan L1500L exhaust fan (about $410 at ventingdirect.com with free shipping). It pulls about 1200 cubic feet/minute of air. I put a Broan 72V variable speed controller ($33.19 at venting direct) so that I may control the air flow. I have had 7 guys in the cigar room, and still have not had to turn the fan on max to clear the smoke. A local contractor charged about $600 for installation including the flexible 12 inch duct, wiring, a roof cap, and the grill for the ceiling. Broan models for this size either mount directly in the ceiling, or as in my case, somewhere else with a "straight through" installation. This set up is probably preferable, as I cannot hear the exhaust fan even when at full speed. Mine mounts in the attic space over my garage. I finished the room with a new bar, pulled up the carpet and put down a laminate floor, added new lighting, and picked up some nice leather chairs. No smoke or odor gets into the rest of my house. Very reasonable, with under $500 in parts plus the cost of the labor to install. My only problem is now I spend about $50/week to keep my bar stocked because my friends come over so much (ha). Good Luck.

David,

I recently built a cigar bar, including exhaust system, in my home. A primer on how to convert a room to a cigar lounge would be an excellent topic for a future issue of the magazine.

I will be happy to share my insights, triumphs, and failures in this endeavor with anyone who would like the info.

would love to get more info on cigar bar. wanting to do the same with my office so i can smoke in the house.

I travel quite a bit and always enjoy a fine cigar when on the road. Some noteworthy places are the Saratoga Room at the Tribeca Cigar Co. in Downers Grove, IL; the lounge at Stag Tobacconists in Phoenix, AZ; and Smoke and Ale in Nashville, TN. I also travel to Europe and always enjoy a Cuban Montecristo or Cohiba during my stop in Rome on the return trip.

I smoke at 10 Downing St. Cigar Bar in Houston, TX. I have also smoked at Serious Cigars Shop on Houston's NW side. Other than that, it is primarily at home in my backyard.

We have a small detached rec room that's great about 8 months out of the year. Back patio or great front porch at least 6 months out of the year. Fortunately for us in Nevada, we can still go to the casino and have a smoke in the sports bar or lounge.

Favorite is on the boat at Lake Tahoe.

Well, downhere or should I say uphere in the Northwest/WA. as a result of the State smoking ban Frown pretty much cancelled out our cigar clubs locations. We do have a lot of Tribal Casinos and they are top of the line. We have a place which is my favorite and the best called "Smokey Joes". See link: http://smokeyjoessportsbar.com/menu-cigars.html

well my fellow smokers. necessity is the mother of invention.
During the warm months the deck offers a qkuiet secluded place to enjoy a drink and a smoke. I have decalred my boat a smoking zone to the cheers of many of my friends.

The cold months however pose a challenge. Unable to light up in the house for reasons of marital bliss, I have been banished to the garage. With 30 degree weather heating is a must so the garage is now heated. I also enjoy music while smoking so enter a surround sound system and of course a 52" flat screen. To add afinal touch a couple of leather barcley loungers and now I have a great cold weather hide out. Did I mention the installation of wireless internet. Now my home is finally cigar freindly. Seems I am spending a lot of time in the garage this winter.

Looking forward to spring and summer to get the boat out of mothballs and back on the water.

Time on this earth is all we are given. How to spend it... is up to you. The rest, you gotta earn.

I am very jealous. I must settle for the steps outside my campus apt (not even a patio, lol). I also smoke at my local bar, Mavericks, and my semi-local poker room, Winstar.

As it seems with many here. On my deck in the warmer months. In my garage in the colder months. As I have ramped up my cigar smoking to something more regular in the past year I have firmly decided that I need to insulate my garage. Its either that or I have to light me on fire as well as the cigar.

I actually prefer to smoke outside, I enjoy sitting outside in the evenings with my cigar, even in cooler (not cold cooler) evenings.

What I need to find are a few more local spots my current local tobacconist has a lounge but I will be leaving the downtown. If any of you out there are from Calgary, in Canada, give me a shout out as to any local cigar places.

Marital Bliss can be a HUGE factor on the when's and where's of enjoying a good smoke. I have finally convinced my wife to let me finish my front room (old enclosed porch now heated and a/c) and I have just added the final touch of a wine fridgidor. I am just shy of an air purifier though. Up until now my truck has been my friend and when the weather is nicer I prefer to be outside in the yard with a large cup o joe and a fat robusto. To all those who live in colder climates I can empathize with you especially if the other half does not agree with this passion of cigar smoking (obsession even). All that matters is that we can all slow down and enjoy this simple yet exquisite past time.

I love to have a drink and a cigar while walking around outside around 2-3 AM, looking up at the sky, enjoying the quiet. (Of course that only happens on weekends.Frown) Otherwise, outside on a fall or winter day, (never summer) or in the garage/game room.
