I went to the first IJ with Grandma Cohen, and that 70+ year old woman really enjoyed the Lost Ark and the Jewish history folded into Ark of the Covenant.

Which movie was it??
That's in the Last Crusade...Ford just recovers his fathers diary with the info to the grail and Hitler autographs the book (not shakes his hand)...
I'll probably watch them all before seeing the new one...I do that a lot with movies in a series...

Shia LeBouf is a tremendous young actor. He shows promise in a lot of the movies he has been in the last couple of years. Disturbia, Transformers(Yes the movie sucked, but not because of his acting) and Holes was actually one of this first big/serious roles and he nailed it. So I am down. Indiana Jones is among my favorite trilogies.
Lucas said in a interview that "true" Indiana Jones fans will love the new movie and give it a chance, and people who just like the movies will hate it. He said either way he enjoyed bringing back Indiana Jones and he is making the story to what he likes. So if Lucas is in, then I am in.

They filmed part of it atr Yale University not too far from me. I have a couple of cop friends who worked at the set. They said security was so tight they had no idea what the plot was or what happened. They did tell me that Harrison Ford did very well for a man in his 60's with stunts and all.
IMHO the "Last Crusade" was the best one. His interplay with Sean Connery was excellent. Wshen Sean said he was as virile as the next man and Ford said, "but I was the next man" the look on their faces was PRICELESS.
I'll be in line to see it in May.

Too bad they didn't bring back Kate Capshaw as the female hottie! I remember her from my college days...woof!

I've always been an Indiana Jones fan, but I wish this had a better title. "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" sounds too much like one of those officially licensed novels written for 12-year olds. And I don't expect to hear classic lines like "Mola-Ram, prepare to meet Kali...in HELL!" Lines like that violate the laws of today's political correctness and would be construed as being culturally insensitive as well as dated. I sincerely hope that I am wrong about all this. I will pay my $15.50 like everyone else to watch this film. Who can resist when the Man in the Hat is back?
From the trailer, there were a few cheesy lines, but like everyone else, this is a "must watch" for me this summer! The title is in line with the previous three; I guess the word "Crystal" was a bad choice for Greg .
You're kidding me. I thought it was based on factual events? Say it ain't so Lucky.

I know it's a fiction, but even fiction should have a sense of realism in respect to the settings and the general sense of history.
For example, the movie takes place in 1936, and most of it's events take place in Cairo. The Cairo depicted in the movie is more like 1736 Cairo not 1936 Cairo. Also the citizens of Cairo depicted are more like 1436 citizens, not 1936. Also, the heavy Nazi presence in Cairo is totally inaccurate. In 1936 Egypt was occupied by the UK, Germany never entered any major Egyptian cities, the farther they reached was Al Alamein (90 Kilometers west of Alexandria) and that was in 1942.
I do realize that the movie is fictional, but if you're going to involve historical events, locations and dates in your fiction, they should be accurate, or at least you should avoid major fallacies like these, unless it's a total out-of-this-world fiction like Star Wars for example, which isn't the case with this movie.
I am surprised how the movie was nominated for 8 Academy Awards and won 4. It's an entertaining movie to watch but that's all about it. Of course the good old concept of the white American hero who can beat all the bad guys and gets out without a scratch is exploited to the max as well
Looking forward to watch The Temple of Doom next Saturday.

You shouldn't fact-check movies...especially those that are in historical settings. They're all wrong, all of them... all you're going to do is suck the entertainment right out of the whole thing...
But that part when they opened up the Arc and all the souls got sucked up and everyone aged and withered and died...that's real.
Imagination...let it run a little...don't be so old...
(and we'll leave your wisecrack about the Academy Awards alone...you can look at the list of winners on your own and realize that the "good old concept" isn't what makes a winner... )
