Man, I don't know what it is but the last few nights I just cannot sleep. What sucks is that I have to be up for work in the mornings! I feel like Dave Attel [sp?] without the camera crew and extra dough for alcohol and cool field trips. Anyone else ever have this?

dude, you are not alone. I can't tell you the last time I slept through out the night without waking up what seems like 800 times. Sucks. Since this past saturday I have been waking up at 4:30am!!! What am I, 80? I just wish I could hit the sheets at 10:00pm and not wake up until 10:00am....just once!
Too many questions need to be answered but you may ask your doctor for Lunesta or Ambien for a short trial. Many factors cause sleep disturbences including: Alcohol, Sleep Apnea, caffene, depression, anxiety, stress just to name a few.
I wish there was a simple answer to this one.

A really good over-the-counter aid is SimplySleep. I think Tylenol makes it. It works like a frickin charm.

Must be the phase of the moon or something.....my wife and I have both been sleeping poorly lately....automatically wake up between 3:30 - 4:00....and don't really sleep soundly anymore.
I guess my excuse is that I'm Older than Dirt..old farts are supposed to sleep less..I don't know what her excuse is (she's ten years younger than me).
Oh well....a Casa Torano Robbie and a cup of coffee taste petty good while watching the sun rise....

Hey James, how was the mall walking today? Did you make it to the Country Kitchen Buffet by 4 pm for the early bird dinner special? Oh, and did you watch all of that golf you taped this weekend? How was the nap?

If you get some Ambien, make sure you are sitting on the bed when you take it. I had one a few months ago and took it around 7:00. I didnt know how long it would take so I took a hot shower and fired up the grill with a big ribeye steak. I ended up wrapping up the cooked steak to eat the next day because I could barely stay awake long enough to cook it. Ambien is the shizznit
I've had a very bad Insomnia since i was in highschool. I have found that exercise helps alot. Also you might want to try malitonin.

Dave
I took some ambien for about 2 weeks when I was suffering from exhaustion due to a dramatic shift in my work schedule. I just couldn't get my body to adjust!
That stuff worked well.

Get checked out as Doc said incase there are any medical problems. I took Melatonin a few years ago for a while and it didn't help at all (everyone's different). The problem was not falling asleep when I got in bed, but waking up at 3 am and not being able to fall back asleep. For the past year I've been taking Valerian an herbal supplement) just before I go to bed and it works great. No way 10 am but then I never could sleep late. And once you have kids, forget it!

Wow, thanks guys. Right now I don't think there's any need to go to the doctor yet as it hasn't been going on that long. Tonight I might try taking a Benadryl [sp?]. Those things seem to make me drwosy. I have pain meds due to a back injury that would sure help knock me out I just don't like to take them at night if possible, you wake up the next morning feeling like a zombie. Not to mention that's not their intended use . Thanks for all the suggestions though, I may end up needing them .

why I oughta....I 'd come and kick your ass if I wasn't dizzy from the ben-gay smell
Once again here it is the middle of the Fing night and my @ss is wide awake. I've decided I think it's stress. I execerise, eat prettty well and am in good health ($hit I was just at the doctor's office last week and he said I was doing great other than the F'ed up shoulder I was there to see him for) so the stress has got to be what's doing this to me. I guess as soon as I can figure out the source and hopefully a way to fix it, I'll be sleeping again. *sigh* , work will come early again tomorrow.

Smoke...I'm in the same boat. Again, I woke up this morning a 4:30 . It has to be stress. I can even pin point it. A couple of issues will be resolved this summer. But there is a couple of more on the horizon. One is buying a new house....one of the most stressfull things to do. So I might be headin' to the doc's office real soon to see if I can get something to help me sleep better. Good luck bro
