"Worth the money" is always an interesting question. To me, it's worth it to experience sticks like Opus X or PAM and to always have a few around, but I don't purchase boxes of them. Right now, the only nc boxes I have are VSG and Anejo, while all of the rest of my boxes/cabs are ccs-- to me the ccs are just better; better smokes and better values. This is just a subjective opinion... have fun reaching your own conclusions. Wink

That all depends on if they are an authoirzed Fuente dealer.

If they are and the price is close to MSRP (Plus taxes) then they are worth it.

If not, they will be gouging the price and probably are not worth the extra expense.

No legitimate on-line retailer will sell you Opus unless you know them personally. Although I used to be able to get Opus from the JR's when it was on Wall Street (Prior to 911) they never sold them on-line or over the phone.

Same with Holts. They have them in the shop but will not sell them any other way (except special promotions)

It's a good cigar to try just because it is so popular. I did pay a few dollars more then MSRP for the first one I tried, but now I just get mine in trades. Like Doc said if the price is close to MSRP go for it, but if their charging twice as much or more I wouldn't buy one just because I really don't like when people take advantage and gouge. Supply and demand is one thing, but I've seen a place try to sell a perfection 4 for $35 its crazy.

Even at Holt's they don't sell them by the box, just 2 per person per day. I haven't been going there long enough to know, but they might sell boxes to *good* customers.

At MSRP, I think they are an excellent deal. Even then, you need to let them rest for a couple of months at lower RH, like 65% for them to really smoke well. And the longer you can let them sit, the better.

I tried one because everyone here loves them and my local B&M offered it to me. It was a quality smoke and knocked me on my butt. I love the local B&M's. I have had nothing but great experiances so far.

In Rome, it may be a "10" but everywhere else, it is an "exx".

Eh! If you can get them for a good price I think its worth hanging onto a couple, let them sit for a while, and light em up at "the right time." I had a Perfexcion X the other night and it was a wonderful smoke, really enjoyed it.. but towards the end it kicked my A$$. but then again it wasnt aged for too long. i say go for it!

Cheers

Depends on where you buy them.

Two local shops I use. One in my town and one a littel bit further. The shop in my town was charging $25 for an Anejo Shark. He always overprices everything and there are enough people in town that don't care what they spend. The one a little further charged $16 for the Shark.

Holt's has a good sampler - Carlito's Way - for $50.

Would the Opus xXx be Opus 30? Wink

Apples and oranges. Two totally different blends.

These 2 cigars taste absolutely nothing alike.

Both are good cigars, but imo the Opus is a much more refined, fuller bodied cigar.

I recently purchased an Opus x directly from Fuente in Tampa. I have to be honest, anything in the Fuente line is generally excellent. The Opus x however "Not so much". It was the worst smoke I have ever had. But... I can add it to my list of experiences.

JC Newman does not sell directly.

Fuente is in the Dominican Republic and they do not sell directly.

So what did you really smoke?
