I am hoping to build a cigar room in my house so I am going to need a solid smoke eater/purification system. The size of the room will be approximately 15 x 15 awith 8 foot high ceilings.

I heard these units run about $1200-1500 each but have no idea which one to buy or even what type of systems are out there. In reading afew threads I see that one of the members has a Norelco CAS-1050 unit and speaks highly of it.

Any other suggestions or comments on this subjet would be aprpeciated.

Peace

I smoke in my Den. I have a ceiling fan and I open the window. If you have a window, a smoke eater is not necessary. I then have a Csonka smoker cloaker to get rid of the lingering smell. This does the trick. I have no lingering smoke smell.

I also don't have fabrics in the room. Hard wood floor, leather club chairs, wood blinds. Fabric will hold the smells.

a window and a fan ain't gonna cut it when you have 3-4 guys smoking in one room. Trust me, I tried that already. I also used 4-5 somke eater candles as well, they are bullshit and don't work at all. I rather drop $400-500 on a real smoke eater/air purifier so I can relax, not hear the wife complain and smoke in peace when the outside weather sucks. But if the fan/window thing works for you great!

Peace

I use a Frederick air purifier. It's about the size of an air conditioner, but sits in the middle of the room. It works superlatively well. I've never experienced anything better. It used to clear my old 800 sq. foot apartment in NY in a half-hour after big parties with lots of cigarette and cigar smokers. It's about $600, or was back in '02. It's a little loud, but not more so than an AC unit.

Unlike the Ionic Breeze thing, it's got an active fan that sucks the air through the purifiers. I know asthmatics and people with serious allergies use this unit a lot.

I know alot of bars will use the air purifiers like you can buy in the store at the end of the evening.

I was talking to a guy a few months ago who said when he came back to clean the bar each morning, you couldn't tell anyone had been smoking in there.
