What's your predictions ladies and gentlemen? We have two offenses very capable of putting huge numbers on the board and one outstanding defense probably the best in college football. I'm gonna give it to LSU for a few reasons 1. This is basically a home game for the Tigers It's extremely difficult to beat this team at home. 2. They have an oustanding defense that can shutdown the Irish offense. They are extremly fast and can stop the run and there secondary covers recievers better than most in the nation. They don't give up very many big plays which is what Notre Dame looks to score with.
3. Notre Dame's defense won't be able to contain Russell and the LSU offense.
I'm going with LSU 31 Irish 23
No matter what it should be a great game between two very tough college teams.

ND gets invited to bowl games because of tradition, tv ratings, and a fan base that travels well. They have lost 8 bowl games in a role because they are invited to bowls they don't belong in. I give them a 5 percent chance.

The odds are ND+9, so I think you're pretty close there Mr. E. I wouldn't be surprised to see it tighter. The Irish have something to prove and I think they'll be playing for all their worth.
I love the way Allstate calls it the 73rd 'Allstate' Sugar Bowl. Like they've owned it for 73 frickin years. What a joke.
I also like the way Allstate screwed thousands of homeowners in Louisiana out of millions of dollars from Hurricane Katrina, won't write insurance in Louisiana anymore, and has pulled out of the state. So what, they gave a park in NOLA $800,000.00. Hey, PAY YOUR CLAIM HOLDERS!
I love the Sugar Bowl, but I sure would like to see another sponser...anybody but them, even...Nick Saban, Inc.
Wow! I hope you guys are right. I live here in South Bend, home of the worst bandwagon fans AND media. I have been a Cubs fan for 15 years so I know a little bit about bandwagon fans. ND this, Irish that. If I have to see another flag, sign, shirt, button, sticker, poster, commercial, coffee mug, tatoo, hat or mailbox, I may stuff so called "fan" into said mailbox. Just my 2 cents, guess I had some steam to blow off after rereading, but Im posting anyway. Happy New Year.

I guess I was a little too generous to the Irish. What a game. I loved every minute of it. and think what the score would be if the tigers would have played the 1st half as well as the 2nd. GEAUX TIGERS!!!

The bigger question might be who would you rather take in the first round if you are an NFL team, Quinn or Russell?.....Russell is definitely more athletic and I have been less than impressed with Quinn in his last 2 games vs. tough opponents--USC and LSU.

Got back from the Sugar Bowl last night. I'm an Alabama fan and, with the Tide landing Saban, I really didn't give a rip who won the game even though my son is a freshman at ND. That changed two minutes into the game when some of the Tigers fans began displaying their own version of southern hospitality. I was sitting with my partner and his family which includes an eight year old girl. First, the LSU fans immeadiately behind (a man in his 40s and his son in his 20s)us start yelling about the "G__ D___ Catholics" Don't these morons realize that half their team and fan base is as Catholic as ND - just not Irish? Next, the drunken LSU fan (Is that redundant?) two rows up starts screaming about a "f___ing fumble", the " f___ing refs" and anything else that can be modified by the "F" word. Religious bigotry and gutter talk - think my partner will take his little girl to another LSU game?
Now, I'll be the first to admit that I've never attended a game at South Bend and I suppose it's possible that ND fans scream slurs at Protestant opponents and drop F bombs like a Marine drill sargeant. Guess I'll find out next year.

I understand your plight here. But come on you can't actually think that this only takes place where there are LSU fans. And your gonna base your opinions on a few fans in your vicinity. Have you never been to a football game, anywhere? Cuz that's how fans act. And I guaruntee they act the same way in South Bend.

Been to hundreds of college games over the last 45 years including several LSU games and even one at Tiger Stadium. I suspect that the behavior I witnessed at the Sugar Bowl is not unique to LSU fans (although a large number of them seem to have made an art form of it). More importantly, this bad behavior was NOT limited to a few fans in my vicinity. It was rampant throughout the French Quarter. I've seen plenty of drunk, obnoxiuos football fans of every school (with the exception of Penn and Vanderbilt who obviuosly don't take their football very seriously) but I saw a new low in New Orleans.
Final thought: During the game, a middle aged (and inebriated) LSU fan sitting behind my wife screamed about a "f____ing fumble". Being a former schoolteacher, she turned around and told him that he should be ashamed of himself. He smiled at her and took another swig. On the walk back to the hotel, an inebriated ND student just behind us was yelling to his friend about how some LSU fan would be an idiot to pick a fight with a "f___ing Irishman". Again, my wife spun around and told him that he should be ashamed of himself. He replied. "Yes, ma'am. You're absolutely right. I apologize".
You're absolutely right. LSU fans, and I'm one, can be the most obnoxious fans in the entire country. Yea, we love our team and things can get carried away sometimes, but you know what "fan" is short for...FANATIC (sometimes lunatic too...lol).
Have you ever been to Mardi Gras in New Orleans? If so, have you ever seen how the tourists behave? Women lifting their shirts to expose their flabby, skinny, hairy, stretch marked ta-ta's (some are decent on occasion) for plastic beads, puking all over the streets and each other, fornicating in public, and generally acting in a civily disobediant, deviate manner.
But hey, that's why the tourist come here, to forget about the ten feet of snow in their driveways, their schitty job and the rotten kids they have, their boring meaningless lives, etc. To them, New Orleans is a mecca for depravity and misconduct. To THEM, yes, to the people that live here, a big NO.
Anyway, we have been putting up with much worse from tourists in New Orleans than your school teacher has ever had to put up with. My point, if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen cher.

I had the experience to be dining at a hotel in Little Rock, AR where LSU fans were staying for the game they were playing with Arkansas the day after Thanksgiving. I was amazed at the level of support LSU fans give to their team. The entire hotel was overtaken by Gold and Purple.
While I am not an Arkansas college football fan ( I am originally from NJ) I can say that on that day I didn't dare let anyone know I was not rooting for LSU.
Having grown up going to Giant's games in NJ I can tell you there are fans like this all over the country.....has anyone ever been to an Eagles game? A Jet's game? Those fans are some of the worst behaving fans out there.

It's good to see someone supporting their University or professional sports teams compared to some other activities out there.
