Hi All

Any ideas on a good disposable lighter. I travel half of my life and can't bring the torch in my carry on. I also can't check bags, because I am part of the flight crew. Thanks...

You'd be better to have long stick matches or cedar pieces to light your cigars.

You are a allowed one bic type lighter correct.

Get a torch that runs on a bic type type lighter.
They can be dimantled into three parts. The Bic type lighter, the top ignitor and the bottom casing.

They are called Microjet Torch.

Iroda microjet

Microjet solder it

again microjet

another microjet solder it

Thanks QM. Have you tried taking these through security?

Wouldn't it be easier just to buy an inexpensive Bic at your destination? Granted, it won't be a torch, but they work in a pinch.

A guy wants to figure out how to bring a torch and you tell him he doesn't need one. That's cold, Dan. Wink

To relight a smoke a torch is great, and BICs get very hot when lighting a big gauge smoke.

No problem.

It is a simple device.

The thing about the BIC though is that it not all BIC fit correctly in the them.

Oval BICS are not good in mine.
Rectangular BICs must be of sufficient size so as to sit in the holder correctly without wobbling and of course not to large so that they don't fit.

Anyway it comes with one or two bics that have no flints or flint mechanism.

Just take it apart and put it nito your shaving and toileterie bag or briefcase.

I used soft-flame butane disposables long before I bought a torch. I think they work fine -- better than most matches for me.

Djeeps are very well made and have an adjustable flame. You can carry on 2 disposable lighters.

And if any lighter looks like a torch and TSA sees it, they will take it.

Exactly my thoughts. Since I used to fly so often, I would either smuggle one with me on board or just get a new one at my destination if I got caught. They're sizable enough to not get your fingers burnt when toasting the foot of the cigar. They're also cheap and reliable.
