So, are you thinking Big F'ing Deal or Jeezus, what was he thinking?
I don't think anyone can truly understand the marine's action unless you were there. It's been reported by the most liberal media (NPR) that the wounded and dead have been booby-trapped...so just because this guy wasn't pointing a gun, doesn't mean the marine was thinking he was taking a defensive action.
What really kills me is the outrage in the middle east that this happened in a mosque. Bottom line: If the assho1es weren't using them to fire from, there wouldn't be any guys in them to shoot. Why isn't there outrage toward the A-holes that have been using them as sniper posts?
I say Big F'ing Deal. The mission was to kill insurgents, not nurse them. And I don't even agree with us being there, but were are there, and now we have to finish the job regardless.
Big F'ing deal. Just the previous day this guy was shooting at them trying to kill them. Whats to say when they walked away that he either shoot the marines in the back or blow himself up.
I think the marine will fare okay.

I agree big F'ing deal. We pay Marines to do their job. I'm sick of people sitting on their fat a$$es second guessing those doing the job they were sent to do. I hope that this Marine will come out ok, but I'm afraid they are gonna hang him. And who's dumba$$ idea was it to send a camera along with the patrol. Cripes. Wake up people. The world is not all sunshine and flowers.

1. Those Marines had been fighting for several days with little rest or sleep. They had discovered buildings in that city that had been used for executions and for torture. These young 19 & 20 year olds that are fighting over there are not old enough to buy a beer back here are the ones doing most of the fighting. They have seen their buddies killed and wounded and this Marine that did the shooting had been shot in the face the day before. The ragheads they are fighting only have one rule to follow and that is to do any and everything they can to kill Americans at all cost this includes wounded, unarmed, female, and civilians it matters not. These ragheads have played dead only to pull out a weapon later and kill American military personell. They alse booby trap dead bodies. I believe he did the right thing by killing the worthless piece of s*#! raghead.
2. What in the hell was a this liberal leftwing news crew doing with our troops anyway. The press should be barred from the direct fighting. They should be required to turn over anything like this for review of the military first. I believe in freedom of the press but not here in a combat zone. There have been times I would have loved to have shot the press my self. To bad this reporter was not killed in the action.
3. What that Marine did was his job and not a crime to hell with what the liberal press, Red Cross and other anti war peacenick organizations think. I would like to meet this Marine and buy him a beer. Eventhough it would be against the law due to the fact this Marine may not be 21 years old yet.
4. If he were one of my soldiers I would do every thing possible to get him out of trouble and cover his young butt. This is BULL SH*%.

I thought he was doing what Presidential Nominee Kerry said he would do if elected. " We will hunt down terrorists and kill them!" The way I see it this marine did what he was supposed to do.
Our country is becoming a bunch snotting whinning wussies. I don't even see how this should be a problem. These embedded reporters better start watching their backs if this soldier gets court martialed.

Your comments are mostly biased. The "who cares" line does not fly.
Marines (all US soldiers) are held to a high standard and must abide by the rules of combat.
So raven, being the most out-spoken, do you disagree with the rules of engagement?
If you knew that the marine broke the rules, would you change your opinion?
I love the troops and want to see the marine found innocent, but only if he is innocent, not because he is a marine fighting in Iraq. This half-@ss’d approach to logic stuns me…
SO not following orders (the troops who did not drive a truck) requires a court marshal, but breaking the rules of engagement is okay? Can you say hypocrite? If you do not follow orders or break the rules of engagement, you deserve to be found guilty.
Loving and supporting the troops does not mean I believe they are always innocent. Again, I want him to be found innocent, but only for the right reasons.

If they are captured and released, they will only fight again. The Marine was doing his job. I've read that some bodies have been booby trapped over there. Our soliders should not take the chance.

The press and Arab public are going to make a big deal about it, but they would've done so on some other thing. Unfortunately, after the prison scandal, the DOD is gonna CYA themselves by hanging this poor Marine out to dry. I think he was protecting himself.
Hydragoat...you may be right...US may never wins their hearts and minds, so we might as well kill them all...
The risk of kicking butt is you get some crap on your shoe
Someone said that Marines are held to a higher standard and must follow the rules of engagement. (Paraphrase)
Those rules got changed by the terrorists they were fighting. Booby trapping dead bodies. Faining death to lure our soldiers in closer and using civilians as shields. (I think that's against the rules too)This isn't a game where a referee blows a whistle and stops play when someone breaks the rules. The only penalty is death. Marines adapt and overcome and this young man did a fine job.
Furthermore, these folks over there are bitc$ing about the guy being killed in a mosque. We keep hearing about the sacred mosques and we have been tipptoeing around these things since we got there. All the while they have been using them as weapons storage and strongholds. There is only an uproar if we do something.
And last but certainly not least, I love the media and "old europe" getting their panties all twisted when this or abhu graib happens. How long did we see those pictures of "torture"? We hear the outrage over this stuff for weeks, but did we hear any outrage when US contractors were killed, burned and strung up on a bridge? Yea, but just a little.
MY PLAN FOR IRAQ: Tell the Iraqi's: You have one year to start fighting for your freedom. We will help you. If you don't want to, we will leave. But make no mistake about it, if we think you are supporting terrorism. You will be bombed bombed bombed!!!!
How's that for winning hearts and minds?

It amazes me that this is even a story. What the hell do you think happens in a war? Just because an NBC embedded reporter was at the scene, it's a major story/scandal (picked up and being used as propaganda by the Arab press of course). How can you even begin to make a judgment without having experienced a similar situation?
As to the post about "civilian casualties"...get a grip...Fallujians(sp) were given ample time to leave before operations started.
WARNING: Politically Incorrect Statement Follows
As a Combat wounded Vietnam Vet (1968)....I think the only error the Marine in question made, was not shooting the reporter.

If a wounded US Marine who had been taken prisoner and was laying on the floor of a building (religious or non-religious whatever...its a building in a war zone) and was shot and killed by an Iraqi, what would y'all's response be?
probably a lot of noise about "ragheads"...

Just for the sake of debate....seen any good beheading videos lately ? How about people jumping out of the Towers? Do you think the "insurgents" (I hate that word) Are not doing the same things, but just don't happen to have a reporter to show it on the evening news around ??
Get real...war is not a debate. You kill people and break things...but unfortunately, in most cases, it's the only way to true peace. History has also shown that you don't fight a war successfully by second-guessing, or criticizing the warrior. Unless you are there to experience what's REALLY going on (an no, the reporter might be there, but he's just an observer), you really have no clue about what combat is really like.
I've actually had people tell me that "I know what the Vietnam War was like, I saw it on TV and saw all the movies...."
Yeah,.... Right.

But I mean...I'm in the camp that says kill them all.
