Hey guys. For the past week I've been down in Cancun and here is a quick recap of what went down. First off, I visited all the malls and the cuban cigars that they sell are super expensive. Even the non cubans that they sell are expensive. I saw a Cuesta Rey Sun Ripened #11 for 18 bucks. I couldn't believe it. Cohibas for 28 a piece. Ridiculous!! Then I hit the flea markets and that was an adventure in itself. You couldn't believe how many people tried to sell me fake cubans. Cohibas in glass top boxes for 10 bucks. I had this lady tell me.."Senhor, they are real..just smell it" She almost shoved the cigar up my nose. I laughed and kept walking. Even at the airport..Expensive! A box of Te Amo Robustos...89 bucks...JR cigars...52 bucks. I figured they would be cheaper where they were made....NOT!! And for the final wammy!! I flew from Newark, NJ to Memphis and then onto Cancun. No problem taking my Colibri lighter and Xikar cutter. On they way back, in Memphis, as I was going through customs, one of the TSA agents opened my wifes purse and saw the cutter and lighter in there own cases. As I was putting away my camera equipment he asked me, in a very spitefull tone of voice, "Is this your lighter?, Looks expensive". I told him yes it is expensive. He called over another agent and asked him, "He can't this on can he?" Other agent replied, "Nope, not a chance. Sorry". I couldn't believe it. I told them that I read the chart showing what can't be brought on board and I didn't see anything that said, butane lighter, torch, cigar lighter, lighter. This jackass told me to check their website. I was like...how the hell do you want me to do that...i'm in a goddamn airport. I told him that I would bleed the lighter and get the fuel out so it couldn't ignite a flame. He told me..."We don't do that here". He said that the lighter couldn't go in the cargo or in the cabin because it contained butane. But here's the funny part...he only took the lighter but left me it's case, the cutter, and the damn bottle full of butane fuel. Doesn't make sense does it? So, off went my lighter with some hick from Memphis that will probably use it to start up his bbq so he can cook up some possum balls and some racoon ass. Guys....take a cheap lighter with you are just some matches when flying out. Thanks for letting me vent.
A beautiful blonde, smokin a cigar walks by me and I think to myself, "What a nice ASH!!"

*******s. Complain like your going to die tomorrow. Pretty much he thieved you if he let you take a butane bottle onboard. Also asking to bleed the tank was quick thinking and not allowed. Going to Cancun in October for a week. Hate like hell to bring matches. May just get a cheap torch down there. I have an Xi that I know I'll leave at home. I hear punches are the way to go on planes.
If you read any of the threads on what can and can not be brought on an airplane, or the lead story about one of the CA Editors losing his DuPont lighter you would have left the lighter home.
Doc ***** Tobacco is a filthy weed, I like it...
