Spring is just around the corner and with spring come the garden. I enjoy growing things. I have a vegetable and flower garden. I like the bulb type flowers they are low maintance and hardy. Every 3 to 4 years I dig them up and divide them and expand the garden. I like growing hot peppers, tomatos, and have several fruit trees.

I'm moving into a house with some friends of mine this summer, and I was thinking about planting a garden. I used to help my grandma along time ago with her garden, good times.

People aren't smoking cigars to be trendy, cool or stylish. They're smoking cigars because they like them. Because they enjoy the experience. Because for about $5 they can spend an hour sampling one of life's greatest luxuries.

I have a large pear tree that is so tall that I can only reach the lowest fruits. At least the birds and bees enjoy it.

I usually plant orinmental tobacco and other flowering annuals. I go for beauty. I buy my veggies in the store, much cheaper IMHO.

I enjoy growing veggies, herbs, roses, and flowers of all types. I started a butterfly garden about 7 years ago as well. No, I don't grow butterflies Roll Eyes I am not a fan of deer. Most gardeners cheered when they shot Bambi's Mother...

The great thing about butterfly gardens of course is that the plants are basically glorified weeds that bloom like crazy. So they don't require too much maintenance and are not too fussy about where they are (most like 5-8 hours of direct sun though.) I planted mine using a design from a magazine, but decided to reduce the dimensions by about half (but still use the same number of plants!) So, it does get very crowded, so it is survival of the fittest! Actually I like the look -- things jammed up in there by July, with bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds coexisting happily. My neighbors think I am a genius, little do they know those plants would do just as well if I threw the seeds down on the ground and walked away!! Big Grin

I am currently growing tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, eggplant, sorrano peppers, basil, rosemary, oregano, tarragon, bananas, mango, calamandin, khafir lime, hibiscus, gardenia, and assorted other flowers.

We have a 51-week growing season here in the southernmost tip of Florida, so growing is not a problem. Insects and -- especially now -- birds are another matter, however.

I love cooking with fresh herbs.

I am getting ready to plant some cilantro and a few other veggies.

My neighbor's avocado tree is full of blossoms right now, so I figure that by the time they are ripe, my cilantro, tomatoes, and hot peppers, with a little onion, will make some awesome guacamole!

Isn't illegal to grow "herb" in Florida?
