My Aristocrat Mini just arrived (woo-hoo), and I have started moving my sticks into it. I was told to prop the boxes open a little bit (i.e.- the penny trick), but I am worried that I will not get good air flow. Plus, open lids take up a lot of space.

My first idea is to buy some trays from Bargain Humidor: http://www.bargainhumidors.com/bh/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=ACC-TRAYS. These go for about $10 each.

Is this the best method or are there other/less expensive options? I would like to promote the best airflow possible while maximizing the amount of cigar storage space.

By the way... Bob at Aristocrat did an amazing job on my humidor. Highly recommended!!

Thanks,
Carey

Those trays are fine. I usually just take the lid off the box before it goes in.

Carey, I have an aristocrat and have over 40 boxes in mine. I just keep them in the orginal boxes with the lids closed. I have never had a problem with airflow or humidity. I wouldn't worry about it.

How do you think collecters, vendors, local B&M's or even cA stores their boxes for long term? With the lids closed....

As long as the humidity stays at a constant % you will be fine. Besides, that is why you bought an aristocrat in the first place right?

I hope you enjoy your new humi as much as I do.

And yes, Bob is the man!

Well I have done some research here on CA forums and came to this very important conclusion. I am in need of an ungrade in my humidor. The key concept that seems to be in every post regarding humidors is whatever no matter how big or small your intentions are for size go at least twice as big. I wanted to upgrade to a 500 count humidor, so this is 3x the space I think this will take many many many years for me to fill up before I need a bigger one!!

I am taking this advice by the senior smokers here. I have just been giving the green light to order a new humidor for my birthday tomorrow. So when I get up tomorrow morning after sleeping in because I took the day off I will call and order the following humidor.

6-8 weeks its soooo long

This is the brand everyone recommends and if you can't afford it save up well that is what I did and now I have 6-8 weeks to decide what to fill it with. I hope this was a good choice and based on the posts here I feel it is. That is all off the smoke another cigar then to bed before a full day of cigar smoking on my birthday.

Night all!!!!

Josh

My mini finally came today after a long two month wait. I cannot wait to start filling it up. I will post some pictures when I get my camera back from my girlfriend. It was the best decision I made humidor wise.
