Just read my first issue of Cigar Aficionado, the November issue, and I must say what a great magazine. I haven't got much expierence with cigars but hope to learn and share with this very educated forum group. From some of the posts I've read there are some very talented cigar people on here.
What I have tried:
Oliva 48 special maduro - I really liked this one Rocky Patel - The Edge Lite Toro, I don't know..... seemed rather like smoking air. Rocky Patel - The Edge Corojo wrapper Toro, nice cigar burned very uneven but could have been the way I lit it.
I also have a RP The Edge with the maduro wrapper I hope to try today.
Anyway, just introducing myself.

hey Tom welcome! Simple rules around here...go to the cuban forum and simply ask if anyone has a good place to get real cubans...thats how most get their start...then condemn Altadis, praise Pete Johnson...and buy a hat similar to Litto Gomez...and possibly start a blog...in no time you'll be an expert...2-3 weeks maybe.

Welcome Tom. Flash forgot to add, be sure to start a "todays smoke" thread sometime soon. Looks like Docs' already beat you to it today tho... Get those credit cards warmed up!
"How is it that you don't smoke ? A cigar is not just a pleasure, it is the crown and hallmark of pleasure. Ah, this is life ! - Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina
All those suggestions were purely sarcastic so please break the trend of noobs doing those things... Alot of crazy people here but stick around and you'll learn alot

Definitely take the above advice tongue-in-cheek though
Also, get involved in the PIF's in the cigar trading section. It's a good way to get to know people as well as a good way to expand your selection of sticks to try.

Welcome Tom, The RP Edge Maduro will give a real experience on strength and great draw as Rocky does draw test those before they hit the stores which is nice, that cigar will burn an hour and a half. Learn about dry boxing if you cant wait for your stash to rest for a period of time, some smokes come pretty much on the humid side and dont burn good from your smoke outlet. Try as many as possible and write notes on the bands for awhile. Good luck !!
