Hey I know that if you type in new shops or something like that in the search bar you can find some other threads about this stuff, and I know alot of responses were on those. Plus if anyone could give you a lot of advice it would be Extension Cord. He could help you quite a bit. Emerald Smoke could as well, but I havent seen him on here in awhile. But I would try the search button to see what you come across. Good Luck with the new shop, a friend of mine is thinking of doing the same thing.

I would really love to run a cigar shop, what a great job. Good luck with your new business!

"It's the sense of touch. In any real city, you walk, you know? You brush past people, people bump into you. In L.A., nobody touches you. We're always behind this metal and glass. I think we miss that touch so much, that we crash into each other, just so we can feel something."
Fascinating. I was considering doing this very thing in Westchester a few months ago. (Plans fell apart after I decided to stay in Colorado.) After looking into several locations, a real estate broker and I decided White Plains would be a good spot for it.
My partners and I put together some ideas that would really make such a place stand out. I don't want to waste bandwidth here, but if you'd like to hear them, let me know.

I'm wondering whether the area you're opening up is high traffic or not. That is, are there a lot of restaurants and bars within walking distance? This was one of the main reasons I had for opening in White Plains. I think if you could be open late - say 11 or 12 at night and also provided an excellent lounge area, you'd be rolling in business.

Harrison does not have a tremendous amount of foot traffic in general, but where we are is perfect I think. There is a restaurant right next door which we have a great relationship with. You can order food directly from our lounge and the waiters from the restaurant will bring your order through the backdoor and into the lounge.
We also get a lot of spill over from events/parties at the restaurant.
Our hours right now are 11a-9p, but that may change as our customer flow dictates.
Hey Scottological, a friend of mine is currently trying to get something around this type of idea started. We LOVE cigars and the nearest cigar shop from my house is around 15-20 miles and it is not that good, but because its the only one in town it really gets to jack up prices and order cigars that they want. So we have been tossing this idea around for about a year and a half to two years. So if I emailed you could you share some ideas of yours with me sir?

I stopped in at Montecristo's Cigar Lounge in Harrison this afternoon, and I have to say, you have a great place. Lounge looked incredible, good selection of cigars, and the Manager Derek treated me like a king. I am only here visiting my parents otherwise I certainly would have joined.
Only comment/suggestion is that from the street, you have no idea of how nice it is inside. Good luck, I hope it really takes off for you. I know I will stop in whenever I am in town.
