My office is seven or eight miles from the house, and I can get there in around fifteen minutes.

My office is about 10 miles from my appt. It takes me about a half hour to get there, and an hour to get home.

It takes me anywhere from 1hr to about 1 1/2 hrs. I have to drive over a mountain pass and in the winter, it can be a long road.

The irony is that if you could build a straight road between my home and work, it would be about 7 miles.

4 minutes walk from my house to the train station.

8 minutes in the train.

6 minutes walk from Central station to my office.

My office is about a mile away. A fifteen minute walk or a six minute cycle, now that Dublin has free public bikes.

Private bikes are slower? Wink

And who provides those anyway, the Ministry of Silly Rides?

Very good, the city gives free ad space to a french advertising company and in return they provide 400 bikes around the city.
It's not exactly free, there's a €10/year charge. The first half hour of every journey is free, mine are never more than 10 minutes. It's a great system, I can cycle in, walk home and I still have a bike in the morning.
