Hello,

I'm curious about how I can increase my level of tolerance because yesterday I smoked a medium cigar, Illusione Epernay and got a little queasy. I posted a thread about seeking out solutions in the NC forum and got some good ideas.
I have a couple of full-bodied cigars, like Opus X and Padron that I got a while ago and am interested in smoking them eventually. I just don't feel like I'm up to the queasy feeling again if I smoke a full-bodied cigar.
Any suggestions out there about how to build my tolerance? Start from the bottom as per se levels of strength?
Many thanks in advance if you reply to this post.

I got bad news for you.. if you don't like full bodied cigars now, chances are you never will. Like forever and ever. Send me those Padrons, Epernays, and Opus Xs I'll help you safely dispose of them. Let's make sure you don't get queasy ever again. Help me help you.

Or, drink sweetened tea or other sugary drink and only smoke anything past medium cigars after a heavy dinner. If you're planning on smoking more than 1 per day, start with the mildest and work your way up with at least 30 minutes to an hour rest time in between sticks. Don't smoke too fast, try to limit your puffs to a pull every minute. When purchasing, consider sticks with Connecticut shade wrappers. Don't force yourself to smoke cigars that are stronger than what you prefer. It's supposed to be an enjoyable and relaxing experience after all. Good luck Wink And if all else fails reconsider my first paragraph. Help me. Help you

There really isn't anything I can add to the above post as pTr939 gave you excellent advice.

My question to you, my friend, is if you enjoy mild cigars what's the rush to get to full strength?

The only thing that is going to raise your tolerance level is time and experience. So smoke your mild cigars and enjoy them!

You'll be surprised how one day it will simply kick in that the mild smokes just don't do it for you anymore and the mediums will.

I always thought hanging around the forums was a great way of building tolerance LOL.
All kidding aside tastes change over time it is a naturally occurring thing.
Smoke what you like for now the being able to go stronger or as is said fuller body will come in time.
However some are very happy to smoke mild cigars their whole life.
There is nothing wrong with that either.

Like you, I started out with milds... at the time I was smoking between 2-3 cigars a week.
As the summer months got going, I increased my cigar intake from between 12-15 a week.. yes you read that right... along with it went my preference... it went from mild to medium.. and med. to full...I still prefer med to full rather than full bodied.
Just be patient and your tolerance will go up, meanwhile, enjoy those milds.
I have smoked the tatuaje T110..and anyone who's had em can tell you they will buckle your knees. And in a brief lapse in judgment, I smoked an opus X at 10 am..and being my first cigar of the day. Won't be repeating that anytime soon.
also hlps to smoke after a full meal especially if you're going for stronger cigars, I recommend a good steak and potatoes dinner. You are not alone in experiencing this nausea feeling.. search for a thread... there was one awhile ago and recommended remedy.. sugary drinks for one.. etc etc,.

I just starting smoking cigars and went from there. When I would go to my local shop she would recommend the mild ones after smoking for a little bit ended up smoking the full ones. Oh if ever feel woozy I get a drink of coke and slow done smoking it but never put the smoke down!! Smile

Now with that being said I have smoked a LFD maduro Chisel with a full stomach while drinking a beer and I felt good. One beer and one cigar boy was I cheap date. Smile

Like everyone else has said: just keep smoking cigars and making sure you avoid the fuller bodied cigars when you have an empty stomach.
